I found that the best way to get rid of pine tree sap, is a nice big chainsaw,

Yea, me either. When I read about it on a newsgroup I was pretty skeptical, but I was really desperate and willing to try anything. I figured I was going to have to have the top of the SS repainted because of the sap. Pretty easy cleanup and way cheaper than a repaint!

A quick trade tip for the uber-stubborn sap... spray a bit of denatured rubbing alcohol on the sap. It will dry up immediately and become brittle enough to scrape off with your fingernail. I only recommend doing this if the sap is hard as nails and stuck to your paint like white on rice. After you're done, finish up with some 3M hand glaze or similar product.

I paint for a living and can say first hand i ahve used Paint Thinner on cars to remove whatever. It will not hurt a paint job on any car.Car paint uses differant thinners to actually do anything.Paint Thinner is something you would use on a oil based Home product.
Hell i have used a rag to clean a whole side of my truck because some jackass dropped a bucket of oil base paint next to my truck. So i broke out the gallon of paint thinner and had it cleaned up in no time.
The stuff does work for tree sap as well.
Wax after.....

I use diesel feul to remove sap, road tar, whatever. It works freaking great. Just use a sponge to apply it with and the stuff will run right off of there!
