I use steel wool on my dirtbikes frame, you can get it from oxidized black to mirror finish, Start with course and move to fine, I use wd-40 to lube it all up. And polish in straght, parellel strokes, not circles. See if that works, aluminums aluminum right?

Use a polishing rouge, its in stick form and can be bought at Semi-truck supply stores. They also sell rag wheels and buffing wheels for polishing, remember those semi guys are always polishing all the aluminum on their rigs.
