If you are worried about your terminals corroding in the doors use a material called de-ox. I am an electrician and I use this stuff on anything that has the chance of seeing the elements or moisture. It looks like jelly and you just cover the terminals with it. Also what ground and power update should be done on the truck? I ran a 1/0 awg wire from the battery and another 1/0 to the frame for my grounds. Is there something else I should worry about?

 

I mounted my crossovers in the doors, you should not have a problem on newer vehicles. I also need info on this ground upgrade!

BTW that back wall has been sanded down and the factory holes for car seats have been glassed over and everything painted as well as the rest of my interior

dont mount your crossovers in the ddors, they will get rusted and crappy. that happened to my cousin, mount them anywhere but the doors

how does this box sound in ur option. can it still hit pretty good lows? ive been thinking alot about this box but have never heard it. do u have anything that you could compare the sound too? these have gotten pretty good reviews. its either this one or the or the tri speaker box they have. i also have a single cab and dont want to loose too much seat space if possible.. thx!

 

For my needs it's perfect. Nice tight crisp sound, not muddy or distorted. Great for Megadeth, OverKill, Iron Maiden, etc. I think it hits the lows hard, especially mounted right behind my seat...I can feel it thumpin right through my chest, and I'm using the factory head unit too (mainly for asthetics). Some leg room will be lost for a taller person if it's mounted on top of the jack cover like I have it. (it's fine for me at 5'10") I'm pretty sure that if the jack cover was cut or removed and the unit was mounted on the floor, the seat would go all of the way back.

 

yea i'll have to check that out. i need something, but not super super boom, so this might be good. thx actually one more question. to connect to the stock deck, did u get a pre amp output converter or splice into the speaker wires?

 

I went into the speaker wires right at the head unit (all 4)...didn't even need to run a remote turn-on. The amp senses the speaker input and turns on automatically

 

Nope, Your all set if you put a better ground to the frame/chassis.
Generally folks rely on the little 10 awg wire that goes from the battery to the frame/body...and it generally melts, or trashes the equipment, as my previous thread had said.
