so why wouldn't a 55W ballast not use a 55W bulb? that just don't make electrical sense.
as for the 5000K, i wanted a nice bright white with just a tinge of blue in it. actually i saw a pair of bulbs - i can't remember who hass them, maybe AAC Style - but they're some 5000K or 6000Ks with a slight purple hue. it looked really nice, especially since my blinkers/DRLs (which are soon to be converted to blinkers), backups, and soon to be interior/gauges are purple.

I did 4300k HID on lows, with HIR's on High And with a couple diodes I backfed the low and fogs when the HI's come on, so I get all 6 lights ... talk about daylight

The only thing I don't like about my setup is the HID's themselves aren't really that bright. I was really surprised they were that dull. For the money I'd probably do HIR's on lows and HIs

If the stock denali lights are hazy on the lense, heres a link to clean them up. It does make a difference in the light out put. I did this when I first got them and they were a little hazy and this cleaned them up.http://denalitrucks.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5538

I have had the 35w 6k HID's in my factory 02 Denali projectors for 2 years now with zero problems and the light out put is far superior to the halogen bulbs. They also have a very sharp cutt off angle so there not blinding on coming traffic.

I was actually just refering to the below post, because he was making it sound like his 35w HID's werent much brighter than the factory halogens, and with me there was a huge difference....

^ I know. I was referring to what PSM posted up
We have HIDs in all of our vehicles, and I sell them, so I am very familiar with the differences between the two lights.
