Default HID upgrade ????

Hey,
I'm new to the forums and wanted to know if anyone here knew if there is anykind of headlamp upgrade like HID or something to spruce up the brightness upfront. Sometimes I can't even tell the lights are on. And if you are familier with the oldschool chevy's/GMC's with the little **** to turn instead of anything practical like a switch with different brightness setting on it. Anyway wanted to get some feedback before I really went out and bout anything.

Welcome aboard! I have to ask though, are you sure you're at the right forum?

Not trying to be a jerk but this forum pretty much deals with 99-03 trucks, 00-03 Subs and Tahoes with LS1 based engines, or LS1 transplant vehicles. You might have better luck with your question at FSC.com. Not that we don't know what we are talking about here, just that we deal with the newer trucks more.

Hey blackbob, my headlights on my 71 chevy did the same thing. It just turns out being the dial control goes bad. I got one from AutoZone for $48.00, I know, that is expensive, but after replacing it, all my lights on the vehicle are about 50 to 75% brighter than before. It turns out that all the lights are wired into the switch. There are two plugs that go into the switch, and the **** just pulls off the old and pushes onto the new. There were 2 screws holding them in also. I like you looked for headlight upgrades, and the best is I went to a direct replacement bulb that went from 55w low to 85w high, to a bulb that is 75w low and 105w high. I have had no problem running this, the wires have never gotten hot, or had any problems. But first replace the on/off and brightness control relay, or switch, whatever its called first.

I hope this helps you.

Thanks bro !,

Yeah I noticed that when I turn the *** it seems to not work either way I turn it regardless. So I'll do the **** upgrade then look for some stock replacement bulbs.....do they may bulbs in different colors that will fit into stock location ? I wanna do thoughs with some fog lights to put into the grill. I wish I had a 4x4 Then I'd go with the whole intire light fixture ontop and front !

Only if they are retro-fit kits...aka if I wanna put HIDs in my Denali projectors
Otherwise, any DOT legal HID conversion kit you can buy, I just got some Xenarc HIDs for my mom's silvy
I guess I'll have to buy from outside the U.S. oh well.
