Is there such a beast? I don't think I've ever seen a GMC with one. Is it just the Chebs that have them?

 

Yeah the 01+ GMC HD's had the same hood as the 1500s as far as I know.

 

I think its just the chevy's too, seems most of the Sierra's have a slightly different grille, but have the same hood as the non-HDs.

Looks like revised GMC lights on a new Chevy front end. Kinda subtle, I had to look at it for a couple seconds to realize it.

So they do make a HD hood that would fit a GMC but, since it's on a concept vehicle that means it will NEVER be available to the public. That's GM's way.

I wonder if any aftermarket companies are thinking of making one??

try like Goodmark Industries. Ive always heard thier hoods are good quality. And, it may be cowled, but it should fit a Sierra HD, and possibly be more along the lines of what you're lookin for.

 

Hey I was just searching through the posts here, The truck is the Chevy Lucchese concept shown @ SEMA last november. (I designed it) Its an HD hood w/GMC fender and lamps, new chevy grill and a bumper cover that goes over the steel bumper, new flare and cladding that simplifies the body side. You can put an HD hood on a GMC but you need to slot the hood bolt about 7-10mm the slide it into fore aft position and cut out the clearance around the gmc lamp and match the line to the GMC fender the front 7-inches of the hood along the fender need to be massaged down as the GMC fender tapers off more than the chevy which is more upright. its fairly straight forward but not for the faint of heart. If you start w/ the GMC the hood is the only new part . People really like the truck its been very well recieved, but its nearing the end of the cylce for the 800 and it probably won't see production. I've got more pics if anyone wants some.

 

So when that concept gets put up why don't you sneak the hood off and send it to me??

I was thinking of a Denali front end with the HD hood but, I would never attempt the hood deal. I might know someone that could do it though. Hmmmm.

Flem, you designed that? Very nice. Do you work for GM? Could you maybe thump those guys who designed the 03 truck in the back of the head for me? Nothing too hard, just a little thwap and then say to them "did you honestly think that looked good"
