Default Is the harness up there?

I noticed that Chevy installed an fluid temp sensor for the tranny and ran it into the cluster harness so we can swap to the Denali cluster.

Here is my question. There seems to be a vacant spot above my rear view mirror, right on the roof line, covered up by a piece of plastic. I'm assuming that it is for an exterior tempurture monitor, compass, gas mileage, ect (like my Impala has). If I am correct, is there a harness up there that would connect to a unit if I were to find one in the bone yard. Thank for any info.

My 01 Sierra didnt have the comp/temp mirror but my 01 Silverado parts truck had one and when I took down the headliner on my Sierra low and behold, there was the harness just tucked up there!!! I plugged it up and it worked!! So you should be able to put one if you can find one.
