GMC Headlight Mod Instructions
#1
I have been requested by another member (MarineBlue03GMC) to post the instructions I gave him for removing the orange reflector piece from the headlights of the GMC trucks. Soooo, here it is. Start by pulling the headlight out of the vehicle by removing the 2 rotating clips (turn 90 deg. then pull them out. Follow the curved arrows). Remove the 2 metal clips on the left and right side of the headlight. Then you have to pry open the case of the headlight by seperating the clear part (front/outside) from the grey part (back/inside). I just used a flat blade screwdriver. I tried using a long skinny exacto knife to cut the seal instead of prying on it, but I couldn't cut it all the way through. Take your time, and work around the entire headlight until you break the factory seal. The orange part just pops out, and then you silcone the 2 parts back together. I used clear aquarium sealant. After you apply the silicone (I put it in the groove around the grey part) make sure you clean the inside of the headlight assembly thoroughly before putting them back together because you will see any kind of junk that is in there. It is kinda tricky. You have 4 clasps holding it together in addition to the factory seal/silicone that you have to seperate while you are prying it apart. It will not look perfect when you get done putting it back together. I had a few little pry marks where I was prying on it, but the end result is worth it
. You won't see any of this with the hood shut tho.

Speaking of which, anyone want to make an extra $20.00 in the Houston area and clear my headlights out for me?
I tried it on my '02 GMC, but i'm too rough and I cracked one a lil bit when I tried, so I'm a bit skiddish on doing it on my truck that's less than 3 weeks old.

I also live on the southside, near hobby area.
I already have the silicone, so just let me know when you have the time and I'll go and get the $20.00 //

Good article.
Would you happen to have instructions on how to do that mod on the Denali projectors? It's not as easy as the regular Sierra headlight mod...I know because I've tried, but no cigar...
I've been to some ricer page where they put their projectors in the oven so the silicone gets nice and soft so you can just pry it open really quick, but never heard of anyone actually trying and succeeding on Denali projectors...
Anyone?
