fixing nicks in alluminum wheels

i got some used wheels today they look great but they have these little tiny nicks in a circular patterm about 2" from the edge of the wheel the pattern is about an 1" wide or so and goes all the way arounbd the wheel and its on all 4 how can i get these out i was thinking som 500 to 1000 grit sand paper to get them down the move to 1500 then to 2000 then polish will this work or no?

What you're thinking will work about right, but just be careful to use light/smooth strokes with the grittier (less-fine) paper. If you have or can get a Dremel with a polishing kit, THAT's the ticket! Good luck!

Lowe's and Home Depot carry the Dremel polishing kits in the tools section. Anyplace that sells the Dremel tool should also have different kits for grinding, polishing, or whatever. They usually run about $11 or so and have several different wheels and tips.
