Default fixin' chips

Just read through Bill's thread (sorry to hear about it!) and got to wondering how I might fix the chips in my paint. Is there a brand or a kit that's good for filling in and buffing paint chips? Like highway rock chips that go to the metal. There's gotta be something?

not that will match perfectly because as paint ages it changes color but you can mask small chips by laying paint in the chip until it fills to almost the same depth as the surrounding paint and then rub with a little polish but close inspection will show the defect.
Proper procedure would be to sand smooth affected areas, fare out surrounding area, paint and blend, clear, sand. With a color like Silver Birch it's near impossible to blend.

on solid colors i can touch them up and touch up clear over that then sand and buff it and you will have a hard time finding them. metallics on the other hand pool inside the chip and always look darker so it looks like the car or truck has freckles. your truck being darker already will help a little but golds and silvers are a pain.

I touched up a bunch of the rock chips on the front of my truck with sharpie

The truck is black so I can pull that off and it works surprisingly well.
