how do i clean my engine? i see people at the car wash just spraying away. is that okay?

 

I used a CRC engine cleaner and LOW pressure water from my hose, avoiding the intake, alternator, etc. Easy as pie :-)

 

Its 100% fine. It wont hurt a thing. I spray anything and everything in the bay. I do have the stock filter box though. Thats the one place I wouldnt get water into. Did I mention its freakin easy?

 

Just use a plastic grocery bag and a rubber band to cover your air filter and electrical that you dont want to get wet and go to town(I love the pressure washers) oh yeah and my personal preference i would not go driving around all day long and then decide to go try to take a short trip or do it home cold water and hot engine dont always mix have fun and maker her shine....

 

I would at least take caution around the alternator. I wouldnt want to get alot of water in there.

 

Ive Worked For Gm For Years Now.. And Am Now At A Dealer..... Please Be Easy With Water In The Engine Bay...

I Have Seen A Lot Of Money Spent On Fixing Problems People Created Using Pressure Washers To Clean Them......


At Most Low Pressure Water, And Only Where You Have To, And Try To Dry It Off As Much As Possible

SEEN IT TO MANY TIMES TO COUNT.... ALONG WITH COILS, AND MANY OTHER PIECES....

 

Make sure you remove the plastic bag. I crushed my K&N because I forgot to take the bag off.

 

I use an industrial armor all like product, you spray it all over the engine, and you don't have to wash it down, with the heat, it expands and cleans everywhere in your engine bay....
