Default DJM vs. Belltech

Ok guys here it is....I have been looking to put a 2/4 drop on my 1999 scsb. I've called around and got some prices. I'm not sure how much the DJM kit was but the Belltech was around $450. This includes (2)Coil Springs, Rear Shackles and Hangers, and (4)Toxic shocks. My question is what do most of you guys prefer? They told me that for the money DJM was better, but the Belltech will ride and handle better. Belltech or DJM? Also, do you guys know a link where I can get a cheap kit?

not to throw you off or anything but McGaughys has a econo 2/4 kit for 244. no shocks or anything. so if cost is your what your after then they might be worth a look.

Default DJM here

I would do DJM. I bought my kit like 3 years ago and have had no problems. Changing the coils will probably make it ride rough, and you have to buy new front shocks. A DJM Calmax kit (i think thats the name) gives you a new lower control arm. No need to change the shocks, you can use the factory bilsteins which are pretty good. The control arm just changes how low the spring hangs in the control arm. I dont have the tie rod flip kit but will probably get one in the future. It prevents bump steer which doesn't seem to be too bad a problem for me. Pretty much all hangers/shackles are the same. Both belltech and djm have lifetime guarentees. You do need to buy rear shocks. I got pro comps which cost like $70. I think they are the same as Toxic shocks. They are soft though. Also, DJM includes 1 shock relocation bracket for the passenger side. They said because the shoch operates at a bad angle. If you are strapped for cash, you can get the econo kits with front springs. Compare prices because after you buy 4 new shocks you may be at the same price as the DJM kit.

I have had both and think that the DJM is the better kit. The front will ride smoother. If you have an extended cab you will also need to get a carrier bearing relocate.

Right now I only have 2" shackles in the rear. I never bought new shocks for the rear. Do I need to? Will it make it look lower?

New shocks will not make it look lower. However, new shocks will probably give you a much better ride. You have lost at least 2 inches of your shock travel by compressing it giving it a stiffer dampening rate. If it doesn't ride bad to you, don't change them unless you lower it more.

Just ordered Belltech kit 105 for my truck 3/4 drop w/nitro shocks. I've had Belltech on 2 other trucks and love the handling and the ride quality was fine

Ive looked at Hotchkis but it was kind of expensive. Im looking for a decent kit for a decent price. From what I am seeing DJM is the better kit to go with.
