i am trying to decide wether I should get a DJM 4-6 drop with the upper control arms or get a Hotchkis 2-4 drop with the sway bars. I want the handling of a hotchkis drop but I like the looks of a 4-6 drop. Also I still need to be able to put a a dirtbike and fourwheeler along with gear in the bed and drive a long distance to a track. Is there any way to make all this possible or do i need to just go ahead and be happy with the looks of a 2-4 drop. one last thing can you still load up the bed with a hotchkis 2-4 drop.

 

I have had a couple lowered trucks before, and if you are planning on hauling that much stuff with a 4/6, it's possible but you are gonna need to do some more work. With the 4/6 you will have to notch the frame and flip your axle over the leaf springs which cuts down greatly on your rear suspension travel. So if you wanted to go that low you will probably have to put on some helper air bags, which aren't that expensive but then you will have to run a 12 V compressor and a small air tank. They can be mouted under the bed or the cab, but do you want to do that?

 

if i were to use helper bags what would be the best setup. But i still want to know what you guys think about hotchkis

is the hotchkis handing good enough to sacrafice the 4-6 look that I want. Also I am thinking about doing a denali front end conversion but i've noticed that the denali bumper goes lower than the stock silverado or sierra bumper. Would it look to low if I did the 4-6 drop with the denali conversion

 

I have the hotchkis kit and have been pleased with it. I do recoment you getting a SlamAir kit if you plan on towing much though.

 

i've decided that what ever kit i get i need the slam air kit and compressor but back to which kit is better. Is there anyway to get a truck to handle like it has hotchkis but look like it has a 4-6 drop.

 

Yes, the bumper cover is pretty low. So low in fact, that even with my stock height, I have to be careful on some steep driveways.
It won't look too low if you go 4/6, I just think it would be a pain in the *** to be worrying about scraping all the time.

I just went outside and measured the clearance I have. Just under 7 inches. So if you think 3 inches of clearance is enough for you, go for it.

Here's my truck at stock height. I want to go 2/4. I can't even imagine driving with a 4/6.

I agree that driving a truck with a denali conversion and a 4-6 drop would be a major pain in the ***. i have a while to decide because i am only fifteen and just got my learners at the beginning of april. Besides my dad has decided that he doesn't want me to flip the rear axle. so my plans are 2k black RCSB sirrea 5.3, hotchkis 2-4 with swaybars, 4.10s, yank 3000 or 2600, bbk 80 mm throttle body, magnaflow cat back with turndowns, volant intake, 6 spoke 20's with nittos, some sort of roll pan, and denali front end conversion. Eventually i want to get a radixx. I want to be able to run in the thirteens and still have it handle and look right. all that should keep me busy for a long time.

 

After having my truck lowered a 4/6 and then to full bags, I would not do either route again. The 4/6 was looked perfect, but tore the crap out of my front bumper from goin in and out of driveways, and scraped the frame on every speedbump. The bags were just a headach period.

If I were to do it again, I would go with a 2/4 drop with 20's.
