Default Detailing - Pulled the Flares

Bored the other evening. Decided to pull a fender flare and have a look. Clean it and have a look see for possibly removing them in the future.

Remove a screw and the plastic retainers. The rest is held on with sticky tape.
Damn..... lots of grime. There was also a big collection of sand and dirt on the lower wheel area. Bound to have rusted over a bit of time.

Cleaned up the muck and spent a little time to see if I could buff it up and get it rid of the marring and such. I didn't get rid of it. Took a couple pictures and put them back on. Doesn't look right on a two tone anyway IMO.

Looks good from the pic. I'm sure in person it probably looks like a different truck... Were you happy you did it?

I had to put them back on. The primary reason for pulling them off was to clean it up. The paint underneath them is mucked up. I couldn't buff several spots out where they've rubbed against the panel. When and if I ever repaint it like I want I may leave them off. I'm toying with the idea of a complete color change.

I've seen a couple of two tone trucks around here nearly the same colors as mine without the flares. I don't like it at all.

I'd like to paint the truck in the 06-07?? GM Sunset Orange Metallic. I've seen it on AV's and Colorado's.

The wheels are a love hate thing. People either like them or they don't. Mostly older folk like them I do need to re-do the wheel centers. That was a quick fix to the factory decals that peeled off. Possibly paint them too. I wouldn't if got the truck painted.

mmmmmmm I'm a sucker for orange since my GTO days.

The flares work on your truck since they match the lower color IMO. I think it would look great painted SOM
