Default body molding issues.

as you know i just bought my 08 silverado. i left the lot with some black stains on the side molding but thinking that i could get em off. i am a detailer, so i figured i could remove it by some means. i started by trying to scrub it while washing, but to no avail. i then tried to rub it off with alcohol but nothing, the issue i am dealing with now is whether i should buff it off(keep in mind, i shouldnt have to be buffing a truck with 150 miles on it) and risk it coming back. or should i remove it completely(i think it looks good with molding). option #3, should i take it to the dealer, complain, get a credit for the side molding, and replace them with the sierra denali moldings? let me know

i am a bodyshop director for a large chevy dealer in louisiana. i have seen this happen several times. most on white trucks. if you take it to your local dealer they will order you a new set and paint and install them for you under warranty.they can't order a different part number than you have on your truck.

oh sorry, i forgot to mention that i would take the what they were going to spend on the new moldings and pay the difference for the denali parts. but thanks, that is really good to know.

The dealer's not paying for the parts though, the factory is, and they have to replace the part with the same part number and possibly send the old parts back. At least that's how it works at all of the dealerships that I've worked (and work) at. Even though I'm not with a GM dealership, most manufacturers have similar policies.

I think it will look smooth with the moulding off, you just won't have protection against door dings. Removing mouldings and badges are some of the first appearance mods that alot of guys do. The GMT900 mouldings aren't too obtrusive though, so I think they look good either on or off.

i like the NNBS with the moldings. they look wierd without because there is no bottom body line like the NBS which look better without IMO.
