I've read that HID lights are illegal unless factory installed, but do not know how true that is.... ive never gotten harassed.

DDMtuning for the kits. In CA you aren't really hassled about them if they aren't blue or pink. (yes i've seen a few trucks around with pink ones, 12k i think) 35w balasts are just fine. I've heard of issuses with 55w balasts. most likely in fog lights or smaller housings. 55w balasts will also change the color. 55w 8000k look like 35w 6000k's

The 03 up chevy headlight is almost perfict for the HID, but
the GMC headlight is one of the worst. On my 03 I went with the 45K's and painted the end of the bulb with 2000* silver. That made a big difference with the scatter, and harshness.

I live in PA, not sure of the rules here. THanks guys.

I'll keep the stock lights.

Also on the DDM site it asks what bulb h1??, and do i want the light harness or whatever. ?? I will stick with the 35w

They work great in the chevy housing. I have the DDM 5K's in my 07 chevy Dmax and love em. The light has just a slight tent of color. Light cut off is almost perfict. Go with the ddm 9006 slim kit you don't need anything extra.

On an '05 silverado, headlights are 9006 and fogs are 9145. 9145 cross references to an H10 bulb, so look for either.

And yes, get the relay harness, good insurance.

This is true. However alot of times with newer vehicles you won't get bothered with because the cop doesn't really know if your vehicle came stock with them.. Guys get popped all the time around here for them in there 1988 civics. LMAO If it is not OEM equipped or a modded OEM part you can get a ticket.
