Default 2006 silverado crewcab bed rails!

I am smoothing out the bed of my truck and I really need to figure out what to do with the bed rails because the crewcabs come with the plastic bed rails built to the bed and there is no way to smooth them out whithout cutting and welding new bed rails on it, any ideas?[IMG][/IMG]

Thumbs down

No they have plastic clips just like what is used on the bumpers and to make matters worse the the actual bed is recessed in so the caps sit flush with the bed so it is ungodly underneith!

Exclamation

They are for regular beds and they have the spoiler molded into them which looks gay so cutting them down is not an option and bedcaps for regular beds are wider than the ones for the crewcabs. I have done the measuring today. If only someone made the bedcaps with no holes for the crewcabs I would smooth them out my self!

No I have already had mine off already you have to reach under the bed skin and squeeze the tabs that go through the bed!

Only options I have seen is smoothing and painting them, or I think someone on gmfullsize made some metal ones and welded them in.

I know this might be on the expensive side, but why not find a bed off of another truck that did not come with the bed caps? My truck had no bed caps I am sure there is a bed like mine out there you could pick up.....
