To make this short and simple..

Does anyone know for sure if the 05 2500HD hood is the same as 2006-07 Silverado 1500?
Just got off the phone a couple of mins ago with the auto body parts distributor and the guy on the phone says they're different. 2006 Silverado 1500 hood is different from a 2006 Silverado 2500HD. I know the bumper caps are different but this is about the hoods.

I have always thought that by 2006 they started putting the "HD style" hood on the remaining years of the classic body style. Price he gave me for the 06 1500 Hood was $160 and $300 for the 06 2500HD hood.

I just need to clear up the confusion before I make an order. Thanks!

 

They are not the same the HD has more of a buldge and looks better IMHO.

 

Wow I was under the impression they were all the same style hood from 2005 2500HD to 2006-07 1500 / 2500HD / 3500HD. Thanks for clearing that up!

 

They both will fit and the HD hood swap is common because it looks tougher or more aggressive.

 

Yeah I know both will fit but I just thought they were the same design for different prices. Searching around google just now and to me they look pretty identical lol. I guess I just need to go to the spot and check it out personally. Thanks!

Maybe 06-07 all had the same hood which would be the HD style for 03-05. I know my 05 came with the light duty or regular hood and I did a HD hood swap to make it look like the ones in the pictures you posted. Maybe someone smarter than me will chime in.

 

The 2005-2007 classic 2500 HD hood is the same as the 2006- 2007 classic 1500 hood.

Some aftermarket parts may not have them listed correctly or they are trying to upcharge for the more popular HD hood.

Going to be wrapping it gloss black for now since I have some leftovers.
I've always wanted the HD hood with this style grill. I know most convert to the 06-07 but for me this is where it's at. I've always loved the center bar part of the grill.

 

Looks good man. I've always thought the single bar across was the best look too.
