So all that is needed to convert a 03-05 to a 06 is the grill and hood?

Yes it is. My hood went on with the stock 04 grille.

ahh gotcha but the 06 grille will fit with an 03 hood? i dont see any difference between that one and the grille on my truck, but i do like the look of the 06 SS painted grille

I have a stock '06 grille in my garage if you need one, PM me.
I replaced mine within the first month I owned it and the original is just hanging out in a box in the garage.
The on pictured above is the one I bought. That's the GMAccessory grille. If it's only $150.00 you should buy it! I paid @$300 for that one. The stock grille has chrome trim with black interts.
Lemme know if you want a stocker, I got one.

Edit: Just clicked that listing. It's a 2nd quality, from Canada (exchange rate) plus shipping. Makes me feel a little better about what I paid for it but that's still a great deal.
