Talking Will some HEMI guys ever get a clue?

I was coming home from work last night and was sitting at a stoplight. I see this big *** chrome grill coming up fast at the light that was red. The light turns green and I turn on my towl haul button (Nelson Tune performance shift points) I give it about halft throttle off the line and jump ahead when this truck pulls up next to me going 40mph. Then I hear the might HEMI motors screaming . and he jumps out about a half a length ahead of me. Now I was giving it a little over 1/2 throttle at the time just to keep up aside of him becasue we we driving on a road that was making a slight turn to the left. As soon as the road got straight I was going about 60 . Then I gave it full throttle and it looked like he hit the brakes. By over 100 I had about 10-15 lenghts on him. Then I hit the hazards (ricer like) just to make sure he wouldnt try a fly by at over 100mph and get in a accident. We got hung up in some 1 lane traffic going 45 in a 55 and he wouldnt pass me . I turned off to see what version I just smoked QC 2wd with the almighty HEMI. .

By looking at his sig I would say mid-ish to low-ish 13's

Yeah I would probely say mid 13's. I figured I would lose some lowend with this cam but actually it helped out alot. I figured the cam would make power up to 6300 rpm like the one at Thunder Racing did, but when I got it dynoed it stoped a 5900 rpm. So really its in the stock power band. And comparing the two graphs together I kept the same amount of lowend but it really starts to pull at 2500 rpms. Its a great cam.

I read your post about turns and street racing and doing 45 in a 55 because I see you say that there was traffic around you, while you were doing 100 mph and then you got caught in it..................do you call that a race, maybe the HEMI owner was just a little smarter and decided not to play with you...........don't get me wrong, I have done some street racing, but this senario sounds a little on the crazy side................. take it to the track and post some #s for us to look at man!!!

Ok, imagine, 2 lane road and a stoplight after the stoplight the road starts to make a turn to the left. I was sitting at the stoplight and I saw the truck coming up fast on me. The light turned green before the Dodge truck got to the stoplight I took off regular. At 45 mph the truck got up next to me and slowed down and punched it. (I had me window down and could hear his truck downshift. Now my truck doesnt downshift until 60mph that why I let in the throttle easy until 60mph. His truck was about a 1/2 a length ahead and thats when my truck downshift and I pulled away like crazy. Now the traffic we both came up on was about 1/2 mile ahead and the two lane road that we were both on funnels down to a 1 lane, the race was way over before be got to the traffic. Its just the traffic was going 45 in a 55 and I was running the speed limit (55) and I got caught behind them. I didnt want to pass because there was 2 cars ahead of me. Eventually the guy in the dodge got caught behind me and didnt want to pass. I hope this clear some things up.

Rumblee bee ram, if he's running 13's i believe that he would win. it takes a good bit to get these QC moving into the 13's. i would know cause i have 1 that can run low 13's but traction is an issue.

onequick5.3, if you were close i would love to run ya. don't get too many chances to run trucks. the only trucks that ever come close in my area are diesels with plenty of mods.

Well I live in central Illinois, but if you get a chance I welcome you to comming to next years Nationals in August. I live in Springfield Illinois, and really theres not alot of "Fast trucks around" I know of 1 Procharged 4.8 a STS ex cab 5.3 and a supposivly (spelling) 600+ rwhp rcsb Whipple supercharged 408 from Alabama (The guy was at the Nationals this year and said he had all this stuff on his truck yet his hood was closed and I have seen him get on it and it wasnt nothing special). I think he is BS'n becasue he said he bought the truck like that. And when I started asking stuff about it he was trying to avoid the questions. Like "How do you keep a trans in that thing" He's reply, "I dont know I bought it like that." Or certain question about the motor, and he said it had stock 5.3 heads on it. So Im pretty certain its just BS.

But in the future I want to do a 6.0 swap like Slowprocess. But as far as dodges go 95% are stock and other have intake and exhaust. I do agree once the codes are cracked for good and you guys aquire a good tuning program its gonna unlock the true potential of the HEMI.

Really, it all comes down to 1 major thing with me. Guys pulling out of dealerships "acting like they got a 10sec truck, with a 345 hp motor andcan beat someone with a "supposive 285hp" slow chevy truck. Yet they dont have a clue about weight disadvantage or tq management. A guy that I work with bought a 05 Daytona QC 4x4 and he was talking up his truck and how he was gonna smoke me. Well on a cool mid 45 degree night when I was pulling out of the parking lot I lit the tire up going 30mph, needless to say I never heard anything else from him about his truck.
