What would be the Outcome?

One of my pops buddies I know has a Lightning & I was wanting some opinions on how yall think I would do? From what he's told me the last couple of years this is what he has.
Him
2004 (Not positive on the year)? Ford Lightning
-5.4
-4 Speed Auto
-3.73
-FIPK - Injectors?
-Pulley Swap for S/C
-Pretty sure Nothing Else?
-Big Shiny Chrome 24's
-Faulty S/C when at WOT (Says it bogs pretty bad & he really can't get on it all the way, maybe 85-90%WOT. Took it to the dealer a while back & they said something with the S/C)

I think it would be close, but I think he'd have the advantage. Especially from a roll.
Have him rally the truck before you race & get his IAT's as high as possible. That will give you the advantage.

Yeah, I was thinking my best bet would be from a Dig because of his Bigger & Heavier Rims. Also I've read that 3.42's in the 6L80E are like 410's or 4.56's for the first couple of gears before they lean out?

I don't have any first hand experience with different gear ratios and the 6L80E. But I've tuned a 6.2 with the 6L80E, and just the tune made a HUGE difference. I've read that the 3.42's work well, and I've read mixed reviews of 4.10 swaps.

The issue with your post is that you don't have what pulleys he is using. That's a big difference between a 2lb pulley and a 10lber. If the damn thing doesn't run right, he shouldn't be racing it, Having 24s will be a big disadvantage as well... I hope he does the rest of us Lightning owners a favor and blows it up lol.
His 3.73s are stock, not sure why that is listed and his injector upgrade leads me to believe he has a bigger than 4lb pulley.Truck probably runs a mid 12 on its best day with those retarded donk wheels on it. So you can gauge how you'd do from there.. If he can't drive the number only gets worse on top of the WOT issues you say he is having. In all reality, you wouldn't be able to beat him if it was bone stock running mid/low 13s being a '01+ Anything on top of that is just adding fuel to the fire. If your question is if you can beat a broken truck on boat anchor wheels then to that I say, anything is possible..

I agree totally, I didn't think I would beat him even with some things I believe to work against him(Big Chrome, F***ed up S/C, & my gear advantage(?).....and especially if he was 100%! But just wanted to get a baseline for my truck tho before I start Major Moding. So much for that, I'm to late. Motor Swap, & some drive train upgrades on the way, so truck is down for a few weeks. Then ill try & catch him before I go FI later. If it happens then ill post.

Sounds like a good plan bud.. Not much can be seen from racing another vehicle that isn't at 100%... When you run into a similarly modded truck then it will be night and day. Hell you can race a vehicle with a bunch of mods and a poor tune/driver and wax them, mess around and find someone damn near stock and they blow your doors off because their truck is running good or they can drive. Lots of variables but good luck to the future and happy modding.
