Default Turbo 3-series kill.

Well tonight I was out cruising around the local spots with my guys. We always get a good cruise going consisting of some mean consistant 6 second (8th mile) Fbody's. Some Foxbodies. 2 Cobras (one that would romp any of us. haha). and a couple other trucks. (mine being the fastest.)

Anyways tonight was no different saying all of us drivin around grabs some attention.

Well we were all heading on the parkway into a local county for some remote racing this maybe 1997ish BMW 3 series rolls up to us all. I didn't think much of it besides just that it looked good (dark blue on some silver 19in BBS's) until he did a pretty open rev ending with a beautiful sounding WHOOOSH. Immediately our 2ways start going and everyones telling me to line up with him wanting to see what my truck could actually do since I've never really raced anyone and they've hardly seen anything of my truck.

I fall back a bit and yell at the guy to see if he wants to run em. He replies "sure!" so I ask him what he wants and he immediately says 60 roll. I scream back "**** that this isn't a damn supra!" and he just chuckles and agrees to a 40.

We both then slow down on the next couple miles straight and I let him honk.
I drop the truck down into 3 and hit my tow button (raises revs to 6200). And think to myself I'm bout to get ran hard.

He hits third honk and jumps on me. so I just mat it and right then jumped right up running bumper to bumper. truck shifts into 3rd and i pull about a fender on him then by the time I was at 5 grand I had a full truck length on him.

Needless to say I was majorly surprised that my lil full bolt-on 4.8 did that.
We all pull over at a close truck stop and I get to talk to the guy for a bit and he said he was driving up from Tennessee and was happy to see a good crew out and about. I asked him what all he had done and it was pretty much your basic I6 Turbo, 6-speed, pushin 16lbs.

I was proud of myself until Shelb in his KB Cobra busted my bubble.

wow something must have been wrong with his car. Your truck is maybe a mid 14 second truck at best. Not calling you a liar, but something doesn't fit right.

well I dunno if something was wrong or not..
I mean I run with a crew of alot of sub 13second cars and I can hang with about all of them.

I haven't been to the track yet on my own but my best comparison I have is my friends '96 Mustang GT.
Full bolt-on
4.10's
and MT Streets and he runs 13.3's consistently.
If he and I run from about a 35 roll I'll only loose about a fender length up until we let out.

I dunno though.. its cool that you're questioning I don't mind.
I was surprised myself but his car sounded strong.

alot of times cars feel faster on the street, till you take them to the track, and it breaks your heart, good run nonetheless
