S10 vs Miata
#1
It doesnt sound like much of a race...because it wasnt but here goes.
I was cruising around in my s10 testing out the new timing and carb tuning. Well after driving around doing some part throttle acceleration I see a miata weaving in and out of traffic. I only drive about 45mph so I figured I would never catch him but sure enough we caught a light about 2 miles down the road. He looked over and laughed and said he wanted to go. He knew he would lose so I smiled and said sure. He floors his car, bouncing off the rev limiter, waiting for the light to go green. I didnt stall the truck up enough and the light goes green and I put about half throttle and my truck bogs and then springs to life. I suck his doors off as I fly past and stop shortly after I manually shift into 2nd nearly 10 cars ahead. He rolls up and asked what I had and I asked him. All he had was an intake and borla exhaust. Not much of a race but oh well. I will take what I can get.
On a side note. At the next light I was all alone so I decided to try to find the sweet spot when stalling the truck. It was at 1500rpm and slowly rolling on the throttle. I floored it through the gears and barked the 2-3 shift. The truck just isnt feeling fast anymore. Maybe I'm used to it.

ya know... That must be Jim's (parish) perspective on things... seems like he doesnt think 10's are fast enough, however i cant imagine him thinking his truck is "slow"...

I guess things will always be slow until you pass out from the G's of acceleration. I have been tweaking on it a little bit and squeezing a little more power out. Also, i dont drive it every day so I try not to get used to it.
