Default My s10 vs srt 4 was moved..didnt say where

I have an 87 s10 with a 350 crate engine. The problems seem to never end with this thing. It runs good for a week after I change the plugs then back to crap. I took it too a mechanic who set the timing and it ran perfect for a week then back to crap. Took it back and he set it again and it ran perfect for a week now crap again. Anyway, I wanted to post about a loss I had friday night while cruising. A neon srt4 pulled up beside me and asked if i "wanted to play" I asked what he had done and his response was "mopar stage 2" I said okay should be close. We stopped in the open road and he said to go when i was ready. I told him to so he did. He jumped a half length so i punched it, big mistake. I peeled through first and second and somehow held within that same half length of him until we shut it down. I need some new tires and to figure out what is wrong with my truck.

I have replaced plugs, ignition, set timing, changed gas lines, fuel pump, rewired everything. The list goes on much longer.

Turns out my distributor was messing up my timing. We took it apart and the pushings that hold the counterweights were nonexistent so the weights were just floating around. We replaced those and it runs like a champ now. No response to my race? maybe next time

A mopar stage 2 srt-4 should be running mid to low 13's according to the srt-4 gang at my local track. If you blew off your tires running like crap, I'd say you got a fast s-10.

Low 13s at least with a good driver, most can break into the 12s, a tune and couple mods equal mid 12s on stg 2.

Not to mention my dry rotted 5 year old tires on the back. My s10 sat in the same spot for 2 years and then i finally got some money for an engine but not enough for tires. Like i said the distributor problem is fixed and it runs much better. Yesterday I was trying to learn how to go from a start with this thing without peeling so much and no more than half throttle and nearly zero stalling will only peel a little so i guess thats the way to do it. Thanks Toe I was hoping for 12s in this truck so maybe with traction thats possible.
