Didn't get too much accomplished this weekend. Spent most of the time working on this, customer car needing some toon work. I've never been waved to, honked at, or had as many strangers come up and talk to me about any car I've worked on as I have with this one lol. Even had two cop cars roll up and ask me about it in a parking lot.

Back to my non-muscle car garbage... Fuel system is finally complete. No leaks, brackets built, clicking noise removed...that was the check valve. The spring preload insert unscrewed with the pulses coming from the pump. Didn't hold pressure anyway, so I yanked it out.

With the exception of the converter, its basically ready to go tool around on 20+psi... I do have some concern about my oil pressure though and how it will affect the turbo. Last time out I saw the pressure climb above 110psi. I'm hesitant to subject the turbo to that with the 75psi hot oil rating and seeing some mild oil slick in the compressor housing when I put the new housing on. Anybody ever run restrictors on journal bearing turbos? Generally that's only a ball bearing turbo thing, but over 100psi consistently has got to cause issues at some point...

Long story short, decided to just replace the oil pump...in the form of a new engine. The 427ci should wake the turbo up sooner, kill two stones with one bird. And more side by side comparison of the LSA vs LS3 valves this time.

Also...anybody seen this before?? I was installing the valve springs and the seats won't fit over that lip at the bottom of the guide. I don't recall ever seeing that lip before. It's about 0.010"...just enough for the seat to not fit over it and gives the spring like 0.150" preload... That would be into coil bind with the camshaft if I didn't notice it

No the heads are brand new from GM. Short block is built by LME. Richard has beat the **** out of his for a decade so it seems like a safe bet.

Love killing two stones with one bird. One of my favorite pass times.

Looks like it will be a good setup.

So I discovered the spring seats are specific to these heads, which require what seems to be a 0.520" ID seat. Just...why. lol

Have you seen your own toon?

Yeah, I'm just going to try to hog out the IDs of these things a little bit. What's the worst that'll happen, I'll have to buy new ones?
