I was talking about the fitting in reference to it being completely vertical I couldnt use a 45 because the drain hose would hit the starter. Should be fine though. Remember to tighten up the bolts right. My brother broke about 2 pans, and I broke a couple of bolts on mine.

More done today.

I seriously got by on the drain location by a c*nt hair. I should have put it 1/2" lower but it's fine. The hose just nudges up against the starter case. Got the oil feed adapter and oil line installed.

Also I managed to cut the drain line short like a moron. So I had to splice in a piece of hose with 2 of the 5/8" barbed fittings I was supposed to use on 1 of my heater hoses. Oh well.

Got the heater hose with the molded end relocated. I actually could just replace the other hose completely but I want to avoid spilling coolant as much as possible. I may just do it anyways, but cut the hose in there in half and drain the coolant that way.

Finally got the IC mounted. Used 1 of the predrilled holes from the factory and drilled another so the IC sits slightly off center to the passenger side but it shouldn't make any difference.

Thought this was a cool picture. After tapping the pan I meticulously cleaned it and then came across this stamping of 6/6/2001. This must have been one of the very earliest LQ9s that GM ever assembled.

Drain made it by a hair. Would have been absolutely perfect about 1/2 lower. Oh well.

Good pic showing oil feed and drain routing

Plan tomorrow is to get the hot pipes and wastegate on. Then figure out the cold side routing. This was kind of a 1 off kit from KB being that his kits are made for electric fan setups. He went to the trouble to dissemble his cold pipes and build mine off his since he still uses the clutch fan.

And that would be about it. Fire it up, hope everything has good oil and there's no leaks.

Any issues with the ac line being that close to the exhaust housing?

Shouldn't be. I have a turbo blanket and the ac line is double wrapped in cool tape. Also, if need be I can easily tweak the line over more.

Why do you have the oil drain in 3 sections?

I cut the line too short. I was under the truck and couldn't see. I thought I had everything lined up how I wanted it but it wasn't the case. I tried briefly removing the push lok hose but its a bitch to get it off the barbed fitting so I decided to splice in a section of line and additionally I was able to move the hose out away from the log which I should have done in the first place.

Gotcha

Looking good. You torque the pan to spec or gave it till it felt snug? Just made a 1000mi trip with my kb kit at 12psi. Got 400mi out of a full tank.

I think you should get more hose bro. This can cause leaks. Is the pieced in hose made for oil?
