Oil pan is done. Injectors are in. Exhaust is out. Brake lines are moved. Got a replacement stud for the manifold. Going to try and weld some nuts on it tomorrow morning and hopefully it comes out without to much fight but I doubt it. The irritating part is it’s the last couple of threads and I can almost thread a nut on there. Gets about 3/4 of a turn before it stops.
6hrs later and I’m almost done. Spent two hours drilling out that stupid stud and need to grab a bolt and nut. Need some more vac like to finish plumbing all that. Then prime the oil, load the tune, and see what happens.
She’s up and running with no leaks so far. First test drive was good. Tuner was happy with the log I sent him. Gotta upgrade my mpvi2 to the pro and get the prolink cable to do more logging but they can start working on other parts of the tune. Truck sounds great. I do need to adjust my down pipe though. Melted tire isn’t exactly a cool thing.
Mmm boost juice.
Got about 20 miles on the truck today. Seems to be running good still although rich enough to throw codes. Sent some logs to start cleaning the tune up. Upgraded the mpvi2 to the pro and should have the cable Thursday and then we start tuning in boost.
Nothing exciting but more logging and driving. On a second round of tune. Upgraded my mpvi2 to the pro and got the Prolink cable so we can log AFR and boost. Truck is running great. Turbo is making noises. Can’t wait to bring this thing into boost and start having fun.
Tuner confirmed we are good to start boosting. Prolink is installed and functional. Water meth switch is installed and system is functional. Had to haul 4k pounds yesterday with this thing and it didn’t break a sweat but you could feel the turbo coming on in 4th while accelerating.
AEM does make a ODB2 wideband that wouldn't have required the Pro-link, they work really well if the vehicle uses CAN-BUS. Not sure if those Tundra's do.
If you have a performance shop near you I'd start buying the meth by the barrel. The 5 gallon barrel straight from VP is only $61, then just dilute it down with water to a 50/50 mix like boost juice already is and you will save a some money. You will get 10 gallons of meth for that $61 compared to the $50 for 4 gallons of boost juice from summit racing. Or just buy windshield washer fluid that is good for -30, it's the same damn stuff really.
I used to run windshield washer fluid in my diesels. Worked just fine. It’s hard finding it to the -30 level down here though since we rarely get below freezing much less to 0 or -30.
The meth is just there for back up when towing in the heat. Since I only tow 3-4 times a year, those 4gal I bought should last a long time.
