21.2 is better than the new trucks with 4 cylinder mode, I'm happy to be seeing 15s again now that my alignment isn't wacked out anymore. I'll have to ditch these Nittos and try a more MPg friendly tire next time, also need to finish the tune still but that requires effort.
The PO of the 4l60 I'm considering rebuilding myself said "Check the fluid it leaks out the tail seal" Little did I know it leaked 3rd gear right out! Totally bone stock 5.3 but I can tell the truck has been abused by a teenager, probably lots of 4-2 downshifts.
I would pickup a used 4l60 for $220-280 right now if I could find one that cheap, 80es have been hovering around $1,100 here.
These are pretty normal prices for the 80's down here. That last one I posted I should probably go buy but I don't have time to drive to east texas and back.
Damn that’s nice. You literally can’t find them in Oregon or if you do they are 1200 for a 380k mile one that needs a rebuild. Its literally cheaper to just buy a whole 2500 pickup for only the trans.
So today I put on the energy front sway bar bushings. The package was unopened, definitely had the links for the front bar but the bushings were smaller for the rear bar. Somehow when I put the rear bar bushings on I didn’t realize they were oversized for the front sway bar, so ended up swapping them from rear to front and took it for a little drive. Honestly it handles better then my Escalade did by quite a bit even after I put the belltech bars on it.
Had to take the Tahoe up to Oregon city yesterday to go tune a turbo Honda then ran over to Portland after to pick up a spare set of wheels for it so I can get the current ones powder coated. On the way up there I was able to average 26 mpg from doing 65mph and drafting a semi truck. Round trip I averaged almost 23 mpg and that was with some stop and go traffic on 205 so I’m pretty happy with that. I picked up these mim wheels, I actually really dig them for what they are. They weigh 57.8lbs a piece with tire and center cap. They are 17x8.5 +15mm offset. Got the set for $200 and all the tires on them have great tread left. They will make a good set of winter wheels as long as they will clear the front brakes and if not I can always put some sticky boi summer tires on them for the rears.

Just weighed my 22x9 wheels with tires at 75lbs a piece. Got the little 17’s on the hoe and I must say it definitely drives much smoother with how much more sidewall they have. The truck feels lighter on its feet and I did a little burnout to break them in also lol. The g80 is still working good.
took it to the weigh station tonight because my wife was sleeping and I wanted to mess with some light throttle ignition timing in the tune. Added in a few degrees in the lower rpms around .22-.40 cylinder air mass area, mostly where it’s at cruising on the highway and mild acceleration while cruising and it definitely feels like it takes less throttle to maintain speed. It scaled in at 5100lbs with me in it and 4950 without me, 1/4 tank of gas in it, sub in the back also. I’m honeslty thinking about just selling my 22” wheels and keeping these lol. The truck feels so much better, rides better, pulls better and fuel economy is improved as well on these lighter wheels. I bet with some hard work I could get the truck down to 4850/ 5k with me in it. I really want to do a mild cam in it but I’d be butthurt if I lost fuel economy from it lol. Idk why but I really love that I have a full size v8 suv that gets better fuel economy then a Honda CR-V.

I was debating painting them silver again because the original finish was pretty worn but I’m happy with them black now. I think they kind of stood out too much and showed how small the wheels were when they were silver. Either way I really like them on my truck and I’m glad I swapped them over. I’m not sure if my larger brake setup will work with them or not, I might have to do a little trial fitment to see if the inside of the wheels will clear the calipers.
