I understand about you'r motor not going anywhere. The story just reminded me of the one about the outboards.

The 408 will be sweet. Someone must have been looking out for you to find one in stock after so many places told you there would be a long wait.

Like you say; "It's a good time to do other engine bay projects".

I was thinking the same...The catch to that was I asked what do u have in stock besides the 427, he said let me look hang on. I didn't think one would be in stock, they said they had 7 that deals fell thru on. One was the closest dish to what i needed and the closest to what i wanted. After the fact tho a few places called back and said they could do it in 4 weeks. Thompson really tried hard for my business, plus the price would of been cheaper but i'd have to wait. Parts are out for deivery so it will be game on...lol.

Parts are all here so i should have more pics for you on manday, soaking the oil pan, valve covers and timing cover in the parts washer so i can paint them. I should have the cam in and heads on sunday/monday to measure for pushrods. Probably going to be at least another week or so till its ready to fire.

What came are the trickflow ls2 heads, Johnson 2110 lifters, gm cam retainer, cloyes hex adjust timing chain, gm lifter trays, cam motion cam, hardware, arp stud kit, ati balancer, gm head gaskets, arp crank bolts, arp cam bolts, gm valve seals, oil cooler lines, gm water pump, ngk spark plugs, gm thermostat and a new radiator since mine doesn't look so hot.

Sounds like a couple of busy weeks ahead of you, but it sounds like fun, too.

There's something special about the look of a shiny, clean, new motor.

Your progress is looking good.

Timing cover, flywheel, rockers, push rods, valve covers, coils with mounts and knock sensors windage tray spacers came to space it down since it having the stroker crank and the arp studs. The pick up tube fit perfect and the oil pan went on. One item holding me up is a broken motor mount, so I'll be back at it Thursday when they come in.
