Default Started my NNBS 4L80e swap

I finally started my swap. I have had all the parts sitting in my garage for about a year. With some time off of work I decided to go ahead and do it this week.

I am almost done, only a few things to wrap up.

The trans is a 2006 model I bought off craigslist and it was said to be a good unit but after I took the pan off I realized it was all but that. I had it rebuilt by a local shop with a Jake's Stage 2 kit.

Also, I got a Circle-D 2A that will hopefully compliment my DD turbo setup I am trying to build.

The cross member is from the one from Dirtrackracer that you can buy on here.

I've got a Trucool 40k mounted up front with room for an intercooler to spare.

Doing a little wiring. I repined the harness and added the speed sensor. Also swapped out the two pins at the TCM and swapped in an 80e swapped TCM from Justin.

I'll take some more pictures tomorrow when I go back down to work. I am almost done. All I have left is to compression fitting the cooler line at the trans and then bolt up the exhaust, finish the u-joints and fill with fluid.

I hope everything works!

We're 4l80e CircleD 2A Bros!!! Great combo. I'm going turbo as well!

With the GMT900s, how to you control the 4l80e? Are you using HPTuner to segment swap?

Here is mine. I had to pull the trans out and fix some things 2x as I wanted to learn how to rebuild a trans and missed something the first round. My swap has been going on faaar longer than yours.

Can't wait to see another turbo build around here.

I hope the stall is a good one for daily driving! I hear it is but I haven't ever driven a stall before so I hope its not annoying.

The wiring stuff for the NNBS is essentially the same as an NBS. The only difference is these have a separate TCM. I don't think its just a segment swap. Blackbear essentially put an 80e tune on a TCM for me to install. I'll have to go back and get him to adjust the tune on the engine and trans as necessary.

I've been following your thread. What a bummer about having to rebuild it again. Such a pain. I could have used one of those jacks. I had a buddy come over and we just manhandled it up there with a floor jack and some ratchet straps across the frame for safety

Well its all installed and the transmission works great. I have about 14 qts in it right now. I am using the dipstick from the 60e and its hard to tell how much more it needs.

The stall is definitely interesting to get used to. I thought the trans was slipping at first but after it got to about 2k rpm it started to go fine. It shifts through all the gears great. So far I have only driven around the block. I'll take it for a longer drive tomorrow when I have more time.

I did break a stud on the exhaust manifold flange, and one of the others I couldn't get tight so it has a pretty healthy exhaust leak. Anyone know how to replace those studs??

The studs just spin out but they can be hard to remove.

If it's already snapped, weld a nut to the end and then heat the flange with a map torch for a minute or two to expand the metal and then spin the stud out.
