The hardest part for me on the manifold swap was the damn beauty cover. I fought the clips in the back for over an hour. Once I finally got it all out I took a sawzall to that whole back section just so I didn't have to screw with it ever again.

haha yeah I learned from lurking the forums about that being a pain. I bought a kit for taking off hard to reach clips. Whole swap took 1.5... like yourself I also trimmed the back so I dont have to deal with them later on.

Did you notice any gains? I daily drive a 98 4cyl Cherokee manual so everything feels fast compared to that.

Seemed snappier but I've got nothing to go by. My other car is a 392 charger so everything feels slow compared to that haha.

i’ve held back from the L86 manifold upgrade but you saying that and the intake box mod helped, I might end up doing both very soon. I’m currently dropping the y pipe and 3.5” single exhaust for x pipe and dual 3” from speed engineering. i’ll try to do a before and after and see how it runs. looking to pick up some power everywhere on the chart. won’t have any dyno #’s but i’ll try to video some before and after of my tac’s. nice results though! I think you’ve convinced me enough to give it a shot on the manifold swap!

Did you do the throttle body with the L86 intake?

Yes sir the L86 Intake manifold, throttle body with some new gaskets and and a new coupler since the L86 tb is a tad bigger. RockAuto has them both for about 100 each and shipped pretty quick. Even if it doesnt pick up any hp it feels so much better and worth the time/money in my opinion. The truck made 332whp previously with just the MIT w/ k&n intake and a catback. Adding the LTs, intake box mod with the new IM/TB I hoping for about 360..

I forgot to mention, if you don’t have an external catch can you will need the pvc hose. Placement for the L86 manifold is facing the front, factory L83 is off to the side. Rockauto has it for 25 I think

Ended up going with Speed Engineering long tubes. Install was pretty straight forward, no issues with fitment or leaks. I had a catback on but it was a bit too loud for me, probably the neighbors too haha. I decided to put on the factory catback and add a qtp cutout, alot better. Had a local shop handle the tune via HPTuners, 360 Customs out of Brandon, Fl, and with a conservative tune made about 350whp, 380ft lbs. Have yet to take it to the track for the results, shooting for this weekend. Not as fast as these damn "tune only" ecoboost fords but sure does look and sounds better.

-intake tube w/ k&n filter
-L86 intake manifold and throttle body
-SE long tubes
