Yup. Sometime tomorrow or Wednesday I will double check the brakes since that was the last thing I touched. I can't imagine the brakes are causing this issue in reverse but not forward but I guess you never know.
Also going to spin the wheels by hand and see if I can replicate the noise.

Thought about that but only in reverse? Seems odd. I never touched them when I did my brakes the other weekend.

 

Remove the driveshaft and see if it's not the transmission? Then go back from there?

 

@strutaeng My thought was spin it first, if it makes noise remove DS, spin again, if it makes noise then problem is isolated to rear.

 

Just jack up the rear and spin the rear wheels by hand.

Then put a big turbo on it.

No noises except what I feel is normal brake dragging. Although I did notice that my right rear brake line has rubbed through the coating and is down to the braided part. I checked it a couple times after install but I guess I should have checked again. I will move the banjo bolt and see if that makes a difference.

Anyhow, no noises that I feel are out of place. I guess the next thing to do is start the truck and put it in reverse on the stands and see what happens. I did order new gear oil and a gasket which should arrive next week so I'll go ahead and pop it open just to double check. I never changed the gear oil on this truck when I got it.

Edit: I posted too soon. I did "drive" the truck on the stands. No issues that I can tell. Maybe some weird vibrations when in reverse and the brake is on? But it seems to do this with my foot completely off the brake. What I will do is pull the wheels and tires off and get the brakes back off and see what is going on underneath.

 

Thinking at my desk today, couldn't I pull the parking brake shoes off to eliminate the parking brake as a potential issue?

 

Yes, that should rule that out.

I was just thinking maybe your parking pawl is not disengaging only in reverse? IDK if that's possible, but just a guess. 🤷
