When I got married at 22 the first demand was "get rid of that old (1957 Chevrolet) car... blah blah blah.
"yes dear"
Five years later the wife was gone and the 57 was waiting patiently for her return to the streets!
Don't you just love a love story with a happy ending

Oh, that has the 6L90e, right? Have you considered a 4L80e instead? Those are basically TH400 with overdrive and it should not be too difficult to swap on your truck. Since the 4L80e "has" electronics.
I think the advantage of the TH400 over the 4L80e is the rebuild kits are cheaper, but I think that has to with lack of electronics and less parts althogether. I can see the TH400 being easier/ faster to "freshen up" if you are doing a lot of track time. Eventually, any transmission will require it though.
That way you have OD since you mentioned street sleeper. Just a thought. But either will work. And there's plenty of aftermarket internal parts support to get you into the capacity you want, and even higher.

If you do a lot of hwy driving the money difference will shrink fast (fuel) along with added engine wear. Just think of the 4L80 as a TH400 with overdrive. If it's a rarely driven vehicle or track only the TH400 is a great choice.

You can have the 6l90 built to hold the power level you are at. The six speed gives you way better gear ratios and overdrive than either the TH400 or the 4L80E. There are people paying really good money to get the transmission you have to work in their vehicle.

Im still so undecided right now, might think about upgrading the one I have, I might not, I'll have to look and see how much the upgrade kits are and see how difficult it will be to rebuild myself

6L90s are quite expensive to upgrade but the bonus is that you get tap shift so you can decide when you want to shift like you want the TH400 to do.
Basically if this is a daily I would forget the TH400. I personally would love the 6 speed and would pay the money to get it done right. @smokinlmm

I will drive it every once in a while, maybe like once or twice a week if that, and I don't normally take a trip longer than 30 minutes one way. But like I said I'm still undecided, I'll just have to do more research and some thinking
