I use the brian tooley slr lifters. I used the ls7 ones in the past without issue as well. I think a lot of guys dont have their pushrod length set correctly, or are using inadequate springs so the lifter takes a beating and fails prematurely even thought the issue is somewhere else.

LS7 lifters have done me well in all my set ups. I use the pushrod length checker tool so I'm sure that is helping. I'd call Tooley again because I heard a rumor that they weren't selling them a while back but last time I checked, he was still sending them out. I'd go with those over the LS7s

I am also using the BTR SLR lifters with a .052 preload. I am surprised they didn't offer you the JohnsonSLR lifters when you asked for the BTR. It is supposedly a good lifter at a reasonable price with better tolerances than the LS7. I had LS7 lifters in my previous setup with no issues but the cam and springs were not all that aggressive either.
