ok so it has been a long time since i updated this...a lot has happened. I had to go back to work for one which really slowed me down. I have had a crazy amount of issues since i got everything wrapped up (or so I thought). I will post pics later, but let me start by bringing everyone up to speed.

I got everything buttoned up, and topped off all the fluids and called my tuner. I found a guy local that was willing to come to me to get me up and running. He got here ant the truck would positively NOT stay running. we couldn't figure it out. Went through everything, and came to the conclusion that it had to do with the DBW system in the truck not working right. I kept getting a code that had to do with the "Accelerator Pedal Position". After going to GM and dropping $580 on a new pedal assy, TAC module, and harness that goes between the two, I found that there was a big difference in the set that i had which was out of a 2006 Trail Blazer SS and the 2005 silverado setup. My falt for not checking this prior. So i hook it all up, and still nothing out of the throttle body. however no codes are being tripped at this point. I come to find out that the other issue I was having is that the Dr X harness for the TB swap is set up in the truck 90mm configuration. Prior to this I didn't even know that there was a difference between the car and truck style 90mm. So by going off of the directions on their website, I reconfigured it and WALLA! DBW system fixed. So I call the tuner back, and have him come back out the following weekend. We hook up and clear code history, and get ready again to tune. This time no codes, but the truck is dying out after only a few seconds. Fuel pressure dropping right after startup from 60 PSI to 20 PSI. Now I am like WTF!!! So I change the fuel pump to the 255 walboro this last weekend. had the tune loaded that would get me close from the last visit, and after the pump swap, I realize that I am running off of the old PCM for the fuel pump relay. Checked voltage, and come to find that I am only getting the prime voltage, and then nothing! Hence the drop in pressure on startup. So...simple fix is to hook up the wire off of the new PCM and relay to the wire going back to the pump. Did this, and FINALLY I am good to go. She starts, and runs, and most importantly....stays running. This is where it gets hairy. I lget the thing running just to find that i have NO OIL PRESSURE! Holy ****!...can this get worse...my god! So I tear down, and find that the o ring from the pickup to the oil pump is trashed. Swapped the o ring today and got it all back together, and now I am good to go with the oil pressure, and all seems to be good now.
I get the thing running, and I am waiting for the thermostat to open so I can top off the coolant, and all of a sudden the secondary cooling fan kicks on! Now I know it is reading HOT for that to be on so i look at the gauge, and sure enough...220-230. Soooooo, now I have to do a thermostat, and possibly a radiator. This is where i have left off tonight. lol

Does anyone know if the OBS 34" radiator will work, or do they flow opposite? I have no issues with replacing the thermostat, but if I have to do a radiator, I will need the new style 34 incher I am guessing. Obviously the thermostat is the easy fix first, but the thermostat being on the lower hose got me wondering about the compatibility of the radiators. Also for test purposes, would it be ok to remove the thermostat completely and see if the temp stays down, and things flow? This is a brand new water pump btw...

Hey, Nice project... I have a similar motor swap and had the same issue with the cooling system. My swap is a 6.0 in a 1995 truck. I have the stock radiator in my truck and it works great. But I experienced similar problems. When I started my truck for the first time I waited and waited for the thermostat to open and it never did, it overheated like you described. I let my engine cool overnight and in the morning I pulled the top radiator hose from the water pump. I poured coolant directly into the water pump and it took a half gallon. I put the hose back on and started the motor. It was fine after I primed it. The thermostat opened normally, the heat worked and it didn't overheat. I hope this helps. Good luck!

It lives! Got her on the road finally. I still have a few minor things to do to be 100% complete, however I managed to get it to quit overheating by the method suggested above. Also got the tune close so I can drive it with no issues. WOW is all I can say. Will be updating and getting some vids up this week.
