That is very true. I will get the top two bolts from the top and then i will be able to reach the bottom four while the truck is in the air. I'll pull it tomorrow and maybe get the motor out too. Thanks Atomic

Only got to work on the truck today for 45 min so I got the tranny out and all of the wiring harness out of the way. All i need to do is drain the coolant and pull the motor. Probably get a chance to do that tomorrow.

Thanks Loud. I'd like to swim against the stream and keep this truck N/A. It will see nitrous down the road (maybe in the fall) but not right now. I've been waiting to see some results from the new Trickflow LS3 255 heads but it looks like no one has posted any. I guess i will have to bite the bullet and see how they do on my 408. I'm going to go through the entire motor and freshen everything up.

TrickFlow 255 LS3 Heads (255cc Intake Port and 87cc exhaust port)
Ported FAST 102
Yella Terra 1.8 rocker arms
.045 Cometic head gasket
11.46 SCR
8.5 DCR

I can't decide on a new cam. Obviously this 408 can handle a bit more than 231/239 114. I don't know if I should keep this cam and advance it some more or go with something bigger. Anyway, I will probably pull the motor either today or tomorrow and start tearing it apart.

for that displacement with those heads and intake i would go with alot bigger of cam. Call bullet racing cam and talk to mark he the owner there he will put you in right direction. my cam is bigger than that for a ls2 with ls3 head and a stock truck intake im at a 234/244 622/622 113+4 Bad *** nitrous cam.

I was thinking somewhere around 242/250 112+5. The only thing that scares me is a lot of overlap. I want it to be nice to drive on the street since that is where it will live 95% of the time. I will start contacting some cam guys and see what kind of valve events they think will work.

Im telling call bullet and talk to mark hes the owner and tell him what your trying to doing and he will set up with a real nice cam for your set up.

Bullet recommended a cam pretty close to your specs. Definitely on the small side but I did say I wanted something that would work well for the street

Went out of town on short notice during the week and got back late last night. I finally got the engine out today and on the stand. Now the fun work can start.
