Why half *** the job and leave it in there?
Know of a few people with rebuilt verters from them, very decent pricing and very good customer service. When fedex damaged the first one and then wouldnt cover the damage roadrunner checked it out and shipped it back for free.

Awesome job on the writeup. You said the yoke is a match, but is the driveshaft a different length? Is it possible to setup a shifter on the floor, something like this.

Driveshaft is longer compared to some of the rough measurments i have gotten from some guys on here.
You could run a shifter like that, i have a shifter from a 97 z28 i might use with a full center console.

Update for tonight. Went shooting with my dad so i didnt get started until about 4.
Crossmember is done. I think its holding the tail of the transmission to high, i will see what it looks like when its back on the ground. Most likely will just remove some of the crossmember under the mount.
Then once i found the bolts i needed after searching for an hour i got the rest of the circle bolts in and the fuel line P-clamps bolted up which i failed to do the last time i did a slave cylinder. Then got the PRNDL switch mounted along with the shift cable bracket.
Cable look right? I still havent decided if im going with a column shifter or a console shifter.
Finished off the night with mounting the cooler and running the lines. Need to get some P-clamps and self tappers to hold the lines away from the exhaust and make some heat sheilds.

Here is the post from when i made the cooler brackets incase anyone wants to see how i did it.
I took a piece of flat steel and bent the ends to allow the cooler to sit farther forward to avoid hitting the bolt that holds the Power steering cooler on the drivers side.
Then welded some uprights to use to bolt the top to the core support brace/ hood latch bracket.
The bottom was simple, i modified the factory cross bar that was installed and turned it backwards. Two of the pictures show spacers that will be replaced with rubber to help with vibration dampening, will also put something on the top.
More of the lower crossbar modified.
With the grille.

After fighting for several hours with the console shifter it got thrown across the shop. I then used the holding tab i had cut and extended to work with the truck cable as a cable holding bracket so i could use column shift. Its kinda ghetto but it works and will never be seen anyways
Once that was done i said screw it and put the interior back in...i wish i wouldn't have tried with the console shifter...i didnt want to cut it up but did...but it was only the factory sub box location so no worries.
Looks really good im super happy with the light grey now if i could just find a dark grey clove box bezel.
Also patched the floor it was just a piece of plate painted and siliconed to the floor and held by self tapping screws. I am also going to get a weatherproofing sealer and put it on the bottom to prevent all leaks. No pictures of that.
Also got the exhaust done so i could reference how far the crossmember is holding the trans up...Missed it by that much.
Stock y pipe clears...cant wait for the turbo kit to show up...would look alot nicer.
Its coming along, tomorrow i should have the wiring done and the crossmember fixed, OH and i can but the bolts in the converter forgot them at my parents house this morning. Then i can get some measurements for the driveshaft, im going to have the stock one shortened then later have one built. Only time consuming thing left is the transmission lines, i have to run them and try to avoid the heat it should be a nice fiasco with zipties and p-clamps.

Driveshaft will be here tomorrow, got the segment swap done. Only thing that doesnt work i have no message display for the PRND321 in the cluster, i dont know for sure yet if i need the auto cluster OR if its something body computer controlled.
If it turns out that it is body computer then im going to wire up some lights, Just put a light in for Park reverse and drive, also im going to weld that ball piece for the brake interlock inplace...i hate being able to shift the truck on of or brake no brake, the key on and off part is because a cable got broke when the parts puller at the junk yard pulled it...and of course you cant buy it by itself.

So....trans is back at the builder, had a reverse issue. I am thinking i will either A: have to have the body computer tuned by gm for an automatic or B: do some custom wiring for the brake interlock and tow/haul.
Here are the final pictures really, i tried for 2 weeks to check everything i could to see if i could get it working right but failed to do so.
Driveshaft, had the stocker shortened for 50 bucks, it came back bare metal so i had to paint it with something
Day of disappointment, all the hours put into the swap only to spend 1 more to pull it out and send it back on its way.
BUT Since the trucks down i have been slowly gathering the turbo stuff so stay tuned for that useless build thread as well
