At 430 Sunday it looked like this.

Before 6 it looked like this.

Just before 9:30

It took a about 3 hours to completely strip the block minus cam bearings.
It isn't lightning fast but I would say 8 hours to pull the motor and strip it completely isn't bad. I had about an hour of down time in those 8 hours.
I didn't realize you an accomplish 99% of this job with a 8 mm, 10 mm, and a 15 mm socket.
I am going this weekend to pick up a used 408 short block with nitrous cam installed. It will take me a month or two in order to buy the little parts needed to finish installing the 408.

241,000 plus. I didn't look at the odometer last night but I know it is around there.
There was no ridge in the cylenders and every looked really good. There was a tiny bit of scuffin on the piston skirts but nothing bad at all for the millage. No sludge, bearings looked good.

The truck was a company tire truck till 2 years ago(230,000 mi or so) so it spend allot of time in quarries and other dirty and dusty environments. I am still cleaning dirt out of little crevices.

Atomic How many times have you swapped motors?
I am pretty confident that should only have to do this once. The motor I bought has 40 passes and he said most of them were aborted because they were trying to set up drag radials.
I am excited the plans for a 408 have been a year and half in the making. It is so close I can almost feel me pissing my pants with excitement.
