It looks like your auto insurance covered the truck and not your homeowners, correct? Do you have your auto and homeowners policies with the same company?

So whats up with it to now?

My sti wrx i had over 15k of receipts (engine, turbo, sound system, wheels etc) and i got 32 back for the car plus they gave me 14300 for the modifications. WHere they **** you is they prorate it all. I had my buddy do receipts dates 2 months back and in 2 months allready gave me 700 less. They told me they would insure up to 50k in aftermarket modifications. I did 20k extra and that cost me like 100 bucks for 6 months they said 50k would be about 150 extra for 6 months def worth it but if you have mods that date back over 1 year with how they prorate in california you better make sure to make some receipts that are max a few months old.

also so you know (this sucks)
In the state of califorina home owners DOES NOT cover vehicles unless your vehicle is not insured. Ie if you have car insurance thats the only thing that will take care of it but if you have homeowners insurance and lets say car has no insurance and sitting in the garage then it will cover it and at the same time they will only cover the value of the car. HOME OWNERS insurance has no clause and never did offer aftermarket insurance for any vehicle. My cousin is in the fraud unit for allstate and told me all this last night after I had him read this topic to him.

He said "If this guy thinks he will get any money from homeowners insurance its going to be a rude lesson. Ive seen this happen before and it just sucks for the customer because they get the raw deal"

Did you have aftermarket insurance on your truck???

We are doing pretty well now we are trying to not get stopped on a daily basis with other stuff. We got everything in the bed of the truck done, got all the power wiring and grounds all back in it. The truck has full power now which means we can put together more engine bay stuff without having to go back around it all. Fuel system lines are all done, wiring is just about done. Have to order a few small things like boost controller and such. Getting there. Hang tight everyone. The weeks change by the minute.

Allstate?

When I got sideswiped way back when in the hit-n-run, Allstate said they only cover $1000 for any aftermarket mods, unless you get a stated-value policy (or similar policy). Even then, they said they would prorate it from the time of the appraisal.

I found a different company that will do 'agreed-value' policies. It's even cheaper than Allstate, and they take your word on the value. It's for collector cars, etc., and can't be used if its your only car (they make you agree you only drive it for pleasure, exhibitions, shows, etc.)

Sounds familiar.

I have told this story before and I will tell it again, in 2006 I was in Texas for a truck show, my vehicle got broken into, when I got back to calif. and talked with my auto insurance they told me they only cover 200.00 of personal property, I turned it into my Homeowners insurance and they paid the 4500.00 worth of stuff stolen from my truck and it didn't even happen at my house or even in the same state.

you were right about one thing , auto insurance said they would only cover 1000.00 dollars in aftermarket parts. BUT my homeowners already said they would cover ALL aftermarket parts, so I guess you friend was wrong
