Default LOW2001GMC from 4.3v6 > LQ4 w/243s > LQ9 w/ls3s > Never Done :)

On March 19, 2001, I bought my 01 GMC as a 4.3v6 model with window cranks. Was supposed to keep it simple (really) and just drop so begin with a DJM 4-6 drop. Later put on some Eagle 219 17x9.5 wheels and then swapped to OEM Denali wheels. Installed a custom stereo system and some OEM Denali headlights and clear tailights.

In 2004, put Eagle 222 20x8 wheels with 245/45/20s and color matched the trim pieces.

In 2006, had the bed the smoothed out and relocated the tailgate handle. Swapped to smoked tail lights.

In late 2007, bought a 6.0 LQ4 motor and started buying other parts for future swap. Swapped on Centerline Archers 20x8.5s w/ Toyo 275/40/20s.

In early 2009, finally swapped to a mild LQ4 with stock 317s, a TR224 cam, Pacesetters, bolt ons, tune, Vigilante 3200 stall, & 3.73s in a g80. Added slotted/drilled rotors, Caddy cluster and cowl hood.

In early 2010, Vigilante 3200 stall went bad and temporarily swapped to a tb stall. With mild LQ4, 317s, tb stall, centerline 20s on street tires and with traction issues, ran a slow 13.20@102.

In mid 2010, replaced tb stall with rebuilt and restalled 3600 Vigilante stall, swapped to a TBSS intake w/ Fast 90tb, ported 243s, Comp 228-232, 588-595, 111 cam & 4.11s in a Truetrac unit.

On October 21, 2010, my truck was burglarized and vandalized, my custom stereo system stolen and other minor damage.

In 2011, due to burglary and vandalism being demoralizing, I decided to paint truck a flat silver. I swapped out the TBSS intake for a Fast 102 intake still w/ Fast 90tb. Added Caltracs and relocated rear shocks behind axle. Swapped to nicer cowl hood and black Denali headlights and tail lights. Swapped to powdercoated black Boyd Coddington 17x7 (narrowed from 17x8 by Weldcraft Wheels) on Goodyear 215/65/17s and 17x9.5 on Toyo 275/55/17s for staggerred wheel look.

In May 2012, after 2 or 3 failed 4l65s, swapped to a 4l80 w/ FTI 3800 stall.

In August 2012, swapped to an LQ9 w/ self ported exhaust only LS3 heads w/ lighter hollow stem valves, psi ml1511 springs and titanium retainers, Harland Sharp trunion upgraded rockers, Comp 228-232, 588-592, 114+4, bolt-ons, LS2 Portworks L92 intake, new Fast 92tb, homemade cold air intake and Denali cluster. By far the fastest its ever been and despite some curiousity, no track times as I mostly baby it.

It's a one owner and not the fastest truck by any means but very fun....not sure what other mods will follow but definitely will always be N/A and a daily driver....special thanx to Johnny (at AJs Performance in Weslaco, Tx, mechanic/tuner), Javi (at Lopez Racing in Elsa, Tx, body & paint), Jorge (aka Cuerva of Pro Truck Performance, my fave truck), Skeet (? lol, for tech help), Zach (aka Chevrolade in Pearsall, Tx,), Eric (aka 1slowz71 in California), and everyone on PTNET who I have learned from or who sold to me or bought from me to help with my build....

GOD Bless, Rob (956) 802-7700

Sorry for lack of pics but cant seem to upload some pics.

UPDATE: On December 22, 2012. Since I'm retired now and truck is no longer a daily driver, upgraded cam to Lunati 232-238, 598-600, 113+4, and headers to TSP 1 7/8s (lil Skeet Version....thanx Skeet again for all your tech help

In April 2013, swapped out original modded front bumper to custom narrowed denali front bumper cover, 03 gmc sierra grille and modded rear roll pan for added clearance when jacking up and also less air resistance. Swapped worn out rear toyos for same size 275/55/17 dunlops which are a lil wider for even nicer look.

Now in May 2013, swapped air intake system to a discontinued see through smoke UPD lid cover. Gotta be different and functional. Also working on adding a center console and a custom rigged up flat slick tonneau cover to reduce air resistance and looks....

In 2010, with mild lq4, 317s, tr224, bolt ons, tb stall, 3.73s, centerline 20s on street tires, and traction issues ran a slow 13.20 at 102.

Some significant mods since then and alot faster by far but sorry no track times as i mostly baby it lol. i know boring

i would like to but honestly i get black outs and only drive when i feel well and with them street tires wont hook as well as id like it to.

so wont be till my buddy replaces his 17 inch drag radials and hands them down so we can get some good runs in. he will prob drive it but wont be till the fall as he just got the tires....

thanx for the compliments and while i am anxious to have it go down the quarter, i gotta be patient. i dont want to abuse running it with traction issues to only run a low to mid 12. i want to get best time out of it....

Ive teased some camaro ss, corvettes and mustangs staying with them while smiling...lol

Only one actual street race to record...boring i know...i baby it...

But raced a 6.2 rcsb with very similar mods, cam, 1 7/8s, 4l80 and 4.10s also. My advantages were my ported heads and intake. His advantages were bigger 4600 stall and 14 more cube inches. He was undefeated in the rgv streets and had beaten 2 high 11 second trucks on 50 rolls. On our first race, he took by a fender. Somebody overslept. On second race, was pulling by a whole truck and easily pulling.

So no dyno numbers or 1/4 mile ets but i rather baby my toy and maintain a lil suspense.

Fixing to do a few more tweaks...
