Default The Lil Red S10

Finally getting around to my truck build after the bike build last year and my big x-country move. First off sorry i havent been around. Mainly due to moving. (Still seting up the garage.) Truck started as a 00 S10 Xtreme with a 2.2. Daily driven until the tranny gave out on me. Last year the motor was pulled as was the motor and interior. Last weekend i found myself in the junkyard yanking a motor from a tahoe. Ended up with a LM7. Plans are to rebuild and turbo the motor. Can use some help with info. Judging by what i found it is a 24x reluctor ring motor. Almost done with the teardown. Waiting for a few things. Will try posting pictures when i get on my computer.

I highly suggest buying some better connecting rods if that LM7 is an early engine, they shouldn't be pushed much past 500-550hp because the rods are weaker.

Buy some GEN 4 rods that are thicker or get some aftermarket rods if you plan to push this motor.

Nobody does but trust me, you will want to go faster at some point and better do it first time around. Pulling **** off sucks

I wouldn't say you have to go forged, just find some GEN 4 rods on like 04.5+ motors and swap them in. Those are good for over 800hp and the pistons are fine so long as the tune is good like always.

Or just find some aftermarket connecting rods and stock size forged pistons and slap it to together. Increase the ring gap for boost (on either plan) and call it good. You'll find that even at 500-600hp you will be on struggle street for traction and just shredding tires.

It will be stock sized, that i know. I may see if i can find 04.5+ pistons and rods. If not i would like to forge and balance everything.

Does anyone make a tuner like efi live for efi vehicles? My diesel can change the tune on the fly. Kinda like it.

Not for gas vehicles, they all have to be stopped and just sitting to flash tunes.

HP Tuners and EFI Live for gassers don't have anything were you can just flip flop between different tunes at the push of a button. If you know how to tune you can make 1 tune file that is prefect for everything.

You'd have to go with a custom system like mega squirt to make changes on the fly with a laptop and even that there aren't just preloaded tunes that you can flash in at any given time.

(HPT has a real time tuning feature but it's only for a few select parameters, you can't change everything under the sun while using RTT)

I planned on using megasquirt. Cant remember 100% which one. But if i remember correctly, it will talk to the haltech dash. I figured no one has an efi live type setup for these. Just figured id ask. As of now, the plan is to do the motor, turbos, and rear end for the time being. Later a roll cage and 3 link rear. Suspension will be a 3 link, coilovers, and a watts link. This weekend i had hoped id be able to get the truck off the trailer and on jack stands. One of the blocks is breaking and i dont like it. I have 3in lowering blocks to use for the time being. Lunati has a nice forged rotating assymbly i have been looking at. I just need to figure out comp ratios. 9.5:1 for boost right?

From what i can tell it was a 02 tahoe. Thought i was lucky and found the LQ series motor i was looking for.
