Default L8t ppv

Picked up a inexpensive 15 ppv tahoe 4wd. Wasn't running and whoever was given the job to remove police lights did a hack job damaging stuff and leaving hot wires everywhere. So far removed metal center console, front half of cage and formed plastic rear seat and Mrs helped with all the lettering

Are you doing a L8T swap on that PPV? There's a guy on the tahoeyukonforum.com swapping one in a suburban.

Sounds like it's going to be a beast!

Transmission issues have it parked for now. Gotta get the scanner on it see what codes it has and go from there. With the L8T in mind if transmission needs to be replaced should I build the 6l80 or build a 4l80e? If I go 4l80e what year should I start with. L8T is going to start as a heads cam headers and intake.

Oh dang, another 6 speed failure 😞

Can you run the 4L80e on that platform? What or how are you going to use the truck?

Any 4L80e '94 and up will work. They are very robust transmissions that don't suffer from major hard parts exploding and catastrophic failures. It's mostly bushings that wear in them. Very simple to overhaul and rebuild kits are very affordable.

You can get some really nice upgrades to the 4L80e that will easily able to make it handle 800-1,000 HP for the price of everything you are going to have to do to the 6 speed to just get to work again.

Very familiar with 4l80e's and their capabilities. Had a 4L80e behind 4.8 with a 76mm and a nv149 from time2kill about 9 years ago but never finished do to life change. But now that our youngest is in school need something to get em all there fast . Im not all that familiar with the capabilities of swapping into this platform so I was hoping to hear from someone who has swapped

You can build the 6l80, look at sonnax and figure out what all you will need for your build plans. I recommend the 456 upgraded power glide clutch assembly, it makes a world of difference.

Nice to figure that there was only covers on stock door panels . Besides a couple holes for push pins they look pretty good, 100 times better than what was covering them
