Default Project Frosty Purple - 2000 Silverado RCSB

Hey - here's my current project. 2000 Silverado RCSB 4X4. It's going to be my daily driver and trailer tower. Lots of helpful people on this forum so far!!

I swapped out the dead 4.8 to a 5.3 and the VATs from the original 4.8 ECU wouldn't let the truck run. So I swapped in the 5.3 computer, did the key reprogram (10 min on and 10 sec off x 3) and it ran but really rough (with no codes). Changed the intake manifold gaskets and it runs way better but still not perfect. So still trying to figure it out - and still no codes.

Put in new front axles, new sway bar links, new fuel filter, new gaskets, new shocks, new u joints, and new fluids. The truck needs new doors (lots of rust on bottom), a new hood (dented), new bumper and supports (dented) , muffler repaired, and rusty rockers fixed. Whew!

So here it is the day it was towed home.

I live in the country - so lots of trucks at the wreckers for parts. Gonna be a fun build.

I'm calling it project purple frost because I would like the final colour to be matt purple. Edit - changing it to Project Frosty Purple... lol Don't want the Purple Frost weed folks suing me.

For now I just need to get it mechanically up and running quickly.

So this truck now has a successful engine swap. I put in the correct MAF sensor and no more issues.
I have the muffler parts sitting in the post office so pick them up tomorrow - cat back simple stock muffler.
I have 2 new fenders sitting waiting to go on. A hood from a wrecker Silverado and 2 doors from an old Denali.
Then I need to fix the trailer plug at the back as it's broken.

And I have new bumper support brackets coming since one is squashed and the other is bent. I've got to cut them off it looks like they are welded on.

Hopefully I get to work on her this Sunday.

Yikes! That’s nasty I hate those bastards.

Also why purple frost when the truck is green? Looks like a good start.

So here's where it sits.
I replaced the doors with some Denali doors I had. Moved all the door handles over so the locks are the same. New door pins.
New multi-switch plus wiper motor and now the wipers work.
Mounted the fenders - driver's side has a bit of a wonky gap low on fender but for now it'll do. Hood from wrecker.
Some small fixes inside - fixed the broken driver's air vent and the ash tray.

Need to get bumper mounted - I cut off the crushed mount on the driver's side and have a replacement from eBay. The truck was in a low speed collision with something (pole?) and it tweaked the front driver corner of the truck up a bit. That's what has affected the fender and crushed the mount. Not sure how to fix that.....

Cut the mount off and go get a new one at the junkyard.

In order to fix the frame rail a body shop would need to put it on a frame rack and pull it with hydraulic equipment on a frame table. It shouldn't take long, but cost wise it could be about $500 or so give or take.
