I can't fabricate?

I ignored the hubris before, not giving a damn knowing it was just another idiot but I finally looked up the meaning after finally noticing a mod apparently took it upon them self to change my "status" or whatever it is called.
I am not sure how I am arrogant by trying to show the ignorant people on this site that am not the hack a few have made me out to be.
I am comfortable in my own skin and glad I can be the focus of others attention so often.

1) Need to defy the whole in a never completed search for satisfaction and superiority
2) careless behavior associated with ignorance
3) extreme pride, a tragic flaw (tragic in the Greek sense)
4) a loss of touch with reality and overestimating one's own competence or capabilities, especially for people in positions of power
5) arrogance, exaggerated pride, or self-confidence that often results in retribution; it was the most grievous condemnation according to Athenian law
I personally think it's an excellent description of your behavior in a number of these threads. I didn't change your user title, although, even if I could, I wouldn't change it back for you -- its too apt a description.
Then again...
What about the sockets??
My friend, you just don't seem to be willing to even consider advice/feedback. Your welds aren't great -- mine aren't either, and I don't claim any kind of skill as a fabricator -- but you are trying. Point is, you have a lot to learn and a long way to go. Your fab skills seem less advanced overall than your welding skills (and I think Spoolin hit the nail on the head there with the comment about prep -- prep is my downfall as well, so I'm not bashing you here), but again, you are out in the shop making stuff and that's the only way to get better.
I know enough to know:
1) what I know
2) what I don't know
3) what I only think I know
I have the tools and metal and basic abilities to make my own suspension stuff too. What I lack is the expertise, so I would buy I properly engineered kit from someone who HAS that expertise (or talk a buddy into taking a long plane ride
).
The worst part about this thread as that you don't see why its failed. You evidently look as those pictures and see something that will disprove all these people bashing on you. I look at those pictures and see them in a different kind of thread -- one that says 'here's my best attempt' and asks for welding critiques and advise from master fabricators. The dichotomy shows what is, by definition, hubris on your part.
The big thing I see people really saying to you is that your idea of your fabrication skills is getting you in trouble because it is unrealistic (see hubris again). I don't think anyone is knocking that you want to do it yourself, just that you are kind of off there in the field, doing some crazy **** (like including sockets welded to random metal pipe as "mount points" for a TB blade shaft), and then justifying it by your fab skills. You don't seem to be thinking things through -- e.g. I asked you in the other thread how you were planning on mating the TB to the manifold, with no answer. Also, not noting the difference between a 2000lb purpose built drag car with chutes and a 5800lb truck (or the fact that your truck was designed with a front brake bias because the weight is biased towards the front, whereas that drag car is the opposite).
I'm probably I'm completely wasting my breath here. Most likely, you will either ignore this, or come back defensively about how you welded some stuff together and the weld didn't break, so I must not know what I'm talking about. Hopefully, you will read this, digest it, and take what you can from it, because I have absolutely nothing to gain from this either way.
Edit: You'd do very well to read Spoolin's posts on the previous page. He's done an awesome job of teaching you (i.e. giving you the necessary information) how to be a better welder.

I did gain some wisdom from this thread though...I never heard the word "hubris" before, but I now know it's meaning and have been enlightened with a perfect example, including pics!
I'm still looking forward to the finished product...let's keep it civil so we don't have to lock this thread down and miss the end of this saga. So far we're playing nice, let's keep it that way

It's unfortunate but Erik is right, hubris fits perfectly here...

This whole thread reminds me of that BARTMAN guy. Anyone remember him?

still not seeing the connection?

You can never argue with a guy like this. He will never admit he is wrong. The truck will run horrible, and he will never admit it. Everyone will tell him it runs horrible, and he will just disagree. If it runs at all he will think it is a huge win for him, and he is smarter than everyone on this site. If something goes drastically wrong, he will blame the guy machining the piece for him. This is such a lose lose situation, and he can't seem to see it. He is mad at the guy doing his machine work now, and if you ask me he extended your life an additional 3 weeks. I was going to suggest when this fails to have a few people pitch in (I would have contributed) to buy him a Tbody for the aggravation he has went through, but now I wouldn't. He will never admit it is a fail, even when he opens his hood and everyone says WTF is that.

I will post a video of it running well or like **** once installed. I am not afraid to admit I am wrong. I am tight on cash but $150 isn't a big deal if I have to buy a TB.
I love how people still say that anyone in this thread "Knows it won't work." I can't say it will but no body and I mean no body can tell me it won't. No one has ever made a TB(not in this thread at least) and had it fail or work. Simple as that. A fact is only a fact once it is proven and backed up.
As for the definition:
2)everyone is ignorant at one point. You never know anything till you have learned it. Till then you are ignorant. There is nothing careless about trying something new and different. I am not shooting a rocket over the grand canyon without know how much thrust it will take.
4) You can't expand your capabilities without trying and learning. That is what this forum and mentors are about. Everything you have done was beyond your abilities at one point. You did it the first, second,.... time and became fluent in that craft. Hell we all **** in a diaper for 1-3 years. You think chip foose built his first car and won an award!?!?! He built hundreds or parts or whole cars before his first master piece.
Imagine how all the vultures in this thread would be pulling there hair out in the rat rod days!!!!! 50% of the guys in here would have had a hear attack buy now and be dead.

I like how I am the hubris, idiot, fool, retard, what ever names have been thought up for my out if the box idea, but and an ignorant(we both are because we don't know if it will work) fool(you because you think you know the answer without any backing), can tell me it won't work.
I am not here saying it will. I am hoping it will and I easily see it working. I am grounded in reality though and understand there are millions of reasons why this may not work. I am the person in this thread that lost is space and over confident in my ideas. Also I am unwilling to look at reality and see both sides of the coin! I might go see a shrink tonight to get grounded again. If I am not carefully I will be sitting along side Charlie Sheen!

Be careful, I hear he's on the drug called Charlie Sheen, and the side effects are the possibility of becoming bi-winning -- winning here and winning there. However since you're not Charlie Sheen, it will probably kill you.

Wow, I know a someone that is exactly like this guy. Some times you think he's joking, but he is very serious, and gets offended when you question him, because some how, with no knowledge of the subject, he thinks he knows. It's hilarious.

The truck WILL NOT IDLE or run properly.... Period.
You have no provisions for idle air control. Take throttle bodies off of several different vehicles and notice that they all have some means of regulating air while the throttle is closed. I deal with idle issues on vehicles every day and a lot of them deal with malfunctioning IACs or some type of unmetered air entering the intake. They are there for a reason... You can't "hope" or "trial and error" your way around a necessary part of a system, someone HAS already done that, and that's why that part exists. At this point if something happens to your disaster of a truck because of something that you've done or "engineered" it will have to be considered natural selection...
