What goes in this hole?


It is right next to the cam sensor. Threads inside the hole and it looks deep as hell. I don't have anything that looks like it belongs in there. Thanks.

Also I bought a "HD" LS2 chain from Yank and it has a good deal of slack.


I was looking at some threads on tech and it was mixed. Some guys say they have had that much slack others say it was way too much. Any one have an idea if it is way too much. Seems to be to me!

Anyone on the chain? Seems too loose but plenty of people say it is normal?

Hard to tell without looking at it, but all of the LS motors I've seen apart have had slack in the chain. They're never going to be "tight" per se.

Think I am going to run it.

I will have to find out on my engine specificaly but what is common piston to valve clearance. My concern is if the cam is moving a degree or two and with the big knot on top of my pistons I don't want to smash it all up.

I got a feelin' that the guy who sold you the 408 was running some big valve heads, if he was pulling 5.70's on radials. It is smart to check yourself, but I would bet he wasn't running stock 317's. You could probably ask him to get an idea. Looks like a stout short block.

He was running l92s. I am going to have the 317s ported next winter or get a differant intake and go to some L92s my self.

I know the 317s aren't going to be the best but they shouldn't hurt it that bad. If they do then I will be looking for some heads sooner then later.

Did you post that the CR will be in the high 12s?

Yes. the pistons were 13:1 with the L92s and the chamber is only 2 ccs larger in my 317s. If anyone can confirm this I would apreciate it.
