Escalade EXT Build (Whipple'd 6.2)
#11
Thanks. I will fill in the details once I get a littler further along. This is an 08 model with 56k miles that I purchased from a retiring/moving collector. I've always liked these and wanted to build one given how rare they have become. I'm very aware this is a NART in the eyes of most but you can't deny how functional it is for the average Joe.

Despite the mileage, all of the accessories were showing their age so I endeavored to replace all of them. I took the time to use chassis saver on the cast iron portion of the power steering pump to keep it looking nice for years to come
This effort carried forward for the harmonic balancer so I swapped it for an ATI unit. I am currently working on pinning the crankshaft for it's install
I needed more room for the forward fuel line crossover and steam kit so I got rid of the oxidized OEM bracket and installed an ICT system. This presented an issue as the supplied whipple idler/tensioner bracket relied upon the OEM idler bolt to locate and support itself. I had a machine shop lay the ICT bracket on top of the OEM bracket, take some careful measurements, and drlll it to match.

The OEM injectors obviously would be well-past their duty cycle so whipple included a set of 52lb injectors. I wasn't impressed by their no-name appearance as well as arriving in a zip lock back. I swapped to these 62lb injectors instead. I'll be working on upgrading the fuel pump once I drop the tank to address the brake system (GM used a weird fitting size for the rear hard lines. I'll need to remove them and have them duplicated with proper fittings on the axle side while retaining the ABS pump fittings).

This also required upgrading the radiator as well so I went with the much larger Mishimoto unit. I had a hot idle oil pressure of 25 psi in N and 18-20 psi in gear. Hopefully this doesn't change those values too much.
I also went about upgrading to a much larger/deeper transmission pan and opted for this PML piece. I've head great success with these in other vehicles and I'm still not 100% sure I'll be able to upgrade the OEM cooler given the heat exchanger mounting location.

I installed a Corsa sport catback prior to installing the headers but it turns out my American Racing cat'd link pipes are incorrect and some custom fab will be required to finish it. I contacted AR about ordering the correct pipes only to be told they're moving to North Carolina and won't be able to even entertain the idea until sometime next year. I'm hoping I can install a cutout in the same stroke for fun!
