Engine Swap
#1
I have a 1987 Dodge Ram 150. I want to do an engine and trans swap. I am looking at a GM 454 to replace my current one with. Any pointers on how I can do this in one shot?? Does anybody have any experience with this particular kinda swap; i.e. GM engine in Dodge truck?

now onto the topic.
whats the frame support look like on the dodge? is the motor mounts bolted to the support or are they welded in? is there anyway to bolt in a gm frame mount to retain the same clam shell mount on the motor? its going to be a lot of test fitting, measure and test fit again. i would pull everything out thats not going to be used then take the engine with the motor mounts bolted to the frame mount and test fit it. make sure it clears the firewall, radiator support and such. then mark it. you want the motor as level as possible after it is installed. the best way i can think to do it is to install the engine/tranny together and mock it up the best you can as is. make marks were the crossmember needs to go and if the tranny needs to be raised or lowered. if at all possible i would mrk where the frame mounts go for the motor and drill 2 holes for each and bolt it in then deal with the transmission mount.
as many pics of the engine bay at all angles if possible would help a lot. im sure i can help get this installed or maybe someone else knows of a site where someones already done this
