Decided since I was going to put in a new rack and pinion, I’d go ahead and do new ball joints, tie rod ends, and poly lower control arm bushings. Which led me to deciding to powder coat some parts. Got the steering rack back in a week or so ago. Picked up parts today and put bushings in. Went from 750lb/in Viking springs to 800lb/in Eibach springs. Hoping to have it back on the ground in the next couple days.

What are you doing for the bushings on the lower control arms? I haven't been able to find any replacements

Keep us posted on how they perform and if they transfer a ton of noise into the vehicle. I have the poly leaf spring bushings but didn't know they made front ones too.

Truck is back together. New rack and pinion with poly bushings, Proforged tie rod ends and lower ball joints, and Kryptonite upper ball joints, and extended braided stainless brake lines. Truck feels good. Took it in for an alignment yesterday. Had the ride height set too high and they couldn’t get the camber in spec. Lowered it about an inch a half and going to take it back so they can try again. Only leaves about 1.5” out compression stroke on the coilovers, so shorter ones may be on list for later on.
Headed to to get the realignment today and it didn’t go as planned at all. Went about 10 miles and as I got off the off ramp, I noticed smoke coming from under the hood. Pulled over immediately, shut the truck off and popped the hood and it was coming from the turbo. Seen oil splatter on the inner fender liner and frame. Seems the oil feed line blew apart at the fitting and sprayed oil. Some oil did catch fire for a second on the turbine housing, but I was able to put it out. Compressor still spins freely. Once it it cools off, I’ll go pull the line off, but pretty certain that’s the issue. The Huron Speed supplied drain line leaked for the get-go. Had to replace it with Fragola. Just glad my truck didn’t burn to the ground at this point. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.per...75e157b3e.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.per...0a2b61dc5.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.per...171ab341a.jpeg INVEST IN A FIRE EXTINGUISHER! |
