Drizzy’s Build: Cornflake; formally known as Snowflake

Well since the build is near “completion,” figure I better start a build thread.

Picked up this 2006 Silverado Crew Cab LT 2wd in April of 2011 with right at 100k on the clock. Was originally looking for a 4wd, but the price was right on this one. Tinted windows, esky handles, 24s, Flowmaster, drop shackles, welded roll pan and some color matching. First vehicle I purchased on my own when I was 19. Previous owner called her Snowflake and I thought it fit so I kept it.

Wasn’t long (Jan 2012) and got tired of the ride of the big wheels and was really wanting to lifted stance, so pulled off the wheels and did a 5.5” lift with Rough Country 3” spindles, 2.5” coil spacer and factory shackle. Texas Edition 20s in 305/50 Nitto 420s.

Pretty much stayed that way for awhile audio things. The ride with the coil spring spacer got old, so went with the Rough Country 6” lift and a ReadyLift 2.25” rear block to level it out. (June 2015)

Wanted some offset, so put on 20x10 TIS wheels with 305/55 Toyo AT2s. 2” wheel spacers on the rear. Also put on some smoked headlights/turn signals/ fog lights and powder coated grille insert black. (Sept 2015)

How did you push the front axle centerline so far forward?

I noticed that too. Looks like something was installed wrong. Than again, I don't know much about lift kits...I prefer my shit in the weeds.

Well, there isn’t any front axles.. but I see what you’re talking about. It’s just the angle of the pic making it look closer to the front bumper than it actually is.

At this point the truck is paid for, still running good and I’m just enjoying no having a payment. Only issue I’ve had is knock sensors and the clear coat is now peeling. Fast forward 2 years. I’ve decided I can’t make myself pay these new truck prices, so I’m going to slowly build what I have.

Came across Atomic’s coilover conversion. Decided I’d pull off the RC lift and get coilover to get me a small lift to level out the truck with stock shackles and no lift block. 22x10 MRR Z28 replicas in 305/40 Nitto 420s. (Dec 2017)

Wasn’t long before I missed the height, so I bought 4” CST spindles. Picked up some ProComp Predator 17x9 wheels and used 295/70 tires to see what size tire I wanted to go with. Ended up buying new Nitto Ridge Grappler in a 285/70.

Pretty much how she sits right now. Getting tired of the lack of performance from the 5.3 and 3.23 gears and start spending way too much time on here and Boosted LSX on Facebook and putting ideas into my head..

Was between supercharging and turbo. Plan was pull the 200k mile 5.3 out, clean it up, drop in a cam and valve springs, and turbo it. Wanting to minimize down time, I was going to do everything I could done and while still being able to drive the truck everyday as it’s my only vehicle other than motorcycles. So fuel system minus injectors, run all the wiring and install gauges.

Jumped the gun and got in on one of the Huron Speed group buys. Bought the T4 kit with the 3” down pipe and Huron Speed billet 7075 .81ar. Everything sat in the box for awhile.

Fuel system upgrades were to convert to return system, add a flex fuel sensor, Deka 80s, and Walbro 450. Ran a -6 Fragola return line. Put an Aeromotive regular onto the stock fuel rails with the flex fuel sensor on the return side. Walbro 450 in the tank with a Racetronix harness.

Having a tractor makes life a lot easier working alone.

Wanting to make sure everything stayed as safe as possible, started looking for meth injection kits to use as a safety in case of bad fuel. Searching eBay, scored a new open box Devils Own life with solenoid included. Going to run Boost juice. Tapped the windshield washer reservoir and mounted the pump behind the bumper.

How’s the install on the 450? I’m putting a 450 in my nnbs crewcab truck and want to know how easy it goes in? I want to use my stock feed as the feed and then run a 8an back home for return. What reg you going with and what numbers you looking for since you’re running alky? Nice build so far

The 450 was a drop in. Bought a kit specifically for 2004+ GM returnless and it came with adapter harness and sleeve to go around the pump to make it the same size as the factory unit. Enlarged the venturi at the bottom of the bucket and have no problems. Aeromotive 13130 is the regulator I have. Bought a fuel line connect to 6an fitting and mounted it before the rails and ran the return off it. And it’s referenced off the intake.

Do you have a part number for the 450 drop in kit?

WAL-F90000267-GM from HighFlowFuel. There’s a high pressure Walbro 450, I believe the part number ends in 274, I sent them a message and ordered the high pressure pump with the install kit.
