I could be wrong but from what I have seen gas price times millage, is still better then E85 price times millage.
True, I have run the numbers and at 15,000 miles a year at current prices ($2.60 for E85 and $3.30 for 93 in Houston), it costs me an additional $400 a year to run E85 over premium, assuming a mix of city/hwy driving at 10.5mpg and 15mpg, respectively.

But for FI, it's much safer (less prone to knock and detonation) and gains usually about 40-60rwhp when tuned for it because of the additional timing. My truck pulls much harder on E85 after the tune than it ever did on 93, I'm hooked

I didn't realise you were FI. I can understand loving the power but if you want all the power you can't really get ecconomy. I fully understand trying both though.

It is harder to have you cake and eat it too though.

I am simply trying to have the cake, i have a small gut growing so I am trying to not eat any!

meth and 93 octane might work.. custm2500, have you tried advancing the base timing a few degrees? Could make a big difference. Factory timing is pretty conservative

I've tried it on my truck and in my KTM motorcycle. Truck I didn't notice much other than smoother idle. Bike I noticed a big difference. Timed my max accel before and after and I'd get another 2mph before I had to slow down for the end of my yard. Better throttle response too, probably due to the better ring seal with the oil. Note: Use only TCW3 spec oil as it doesn't carbon up like regular 2 cycle oil.

Good deal man. Maybe some eBay BBC longtubes could help, but running pipe and getting the computer reflashed would be alot of $$ to save fuel

I have a friend whos father has had two BBC burbs both of which were autos, with 4.10s and oversized tires, both got almost 18mpg on highway unloaded..

He swears by them.. New one has 8.1, Lts, tune, trans work, and some meaty 35s..

Looks killer too..

Also, my 1500 GMC now gets 16mpg on reg fuel, and 19 on premium like clockwork...

I will say, when I threw my 1 3/4" LT's on and had the truck tuned for them, I dropped 2mpg city and highway. But I know some people say they gained mpg.

"The intake silencer (oval thing near the pass. fender) isn't all that restrictive, it's the stuff INSIDE THE PASSENGER FENDER that really holds things back. Take that stuff out. If you want, try to rig something up to allow drawing cold air from the fender opening in place of the factory stuff (PVC pipe works good). Otherwise, chuck it all in the trash can and slap an open element air cleaner on it (a regular old 14x3 open element will fit right on top of the stock TBI air cleaner spacer ring)."
